First off, it’s a great way to show off your love! Everyone will know you are together when you are wearing matching outfits Second, photos will look super amazing when your color palettes or themes compliment each other.
Depending on the event, you can match your bae in various levels. For example, if it is a themed event, such as Beyond Wonderland, you can dress as characters or ideas from the theme. If it’s a holiday such as Valentine’s day- you can dress in red, white and/or pink. For any event, you can always wear the same fabric but different pieces. Here's some inspo for rave outfits for couples or squads that will land all eyes on you guys:
Theme
There are a few ways to approach a couple’s outfit for a themed event. You can both wear the same theme but just different versions of a costume or look (ex. Skeletons or monochrome) or you can be the opposites that work together (ex. Pirate & Mermaid or Alien & Astronaut)
Fortune Teller & Voodoo Master
Voodoo Kitty Joggers, Voodoo Kitty Pullover Hoodie, Optical Illusion Seamless Mask Bandana, Pixel Pro LED Goggles
Aliens
Looking for easy couples costumes? Seamless masks are a super easy and fun way to match your bae, festie bestie or anyone in your squad! Become an alien with one accessory.
ET Seamless Mask Bandana @madamekandi @monsieurkandi
Matching Color Palette
You don’t have to literally wear the exact same color to create matching outfits. You can create a cute couples outfit by picking a palette with multiple colors and go with that. For example - you could choose pastels, black and red, white & gold or really anything you like.
Monochrome Tie Dye T-Shirt, Rave Princess Ultra High Cut One Piece @kell_lovesorangesoda @prettymuchpro5

The best thing to do while choosing festival outfits for couples - pick a vibe, color or theme and build your looks together. It's often easiest to start with one clothing item that one of you already has and go from there. Or go shopping online together and see what you vibe with the most.

Fall is a great season to diversify your wardrobe and invest in diverse pieces that can transcend style. You can mix black with bright elements or go all neutral depending on your mood. Adding a faux fur jacket or boots can be all you need to fall into a new style this season.
]]>Of course, planning for the festival also offers some very fun aspects, such as planning your costumes and expressing yourself through burner fashion. I highly recommend planning your outfits early. The festival itself is 7 days, and you’ll need an outfit for each day (plus accessories!) and night due to the drastic change in temperatures. That’s a minimum of over 14 outfits (I always pack extras just in case). Aside from extreme heat during the day and sometimes almost freezing temperatures at night, you need to prepare for extreme dryness, rainstorms, high wind, whiteout conditions and dust storms (pro tip: pack each of your outfits in a gallon zip lock bag to keep the dust out. It also helps you stay organized when you’re changing on the go.)
Whether you want to dress like a true burner, wear a post-apocalyptic costume, or dress with bohemian style, savormeditation offers all the best essentials to get your outfits planned. Here’s some inspiration for getting ready to hit the desert this August:
Here at savormeditation, we just launched Dune Warrior - a brand new collection specifically with playa themed outfits in mind! Here some of my favorite looks from the new collection that will keep you styling on top of an art car, biking down the Esplanade or dancing at any day party (don’t miss Distrikt – one of my favs!).
I love to wear black on the playa. Dusters are a popular accessory as they look fabulous in the wind (hellooooo, dust storms) and keep the sun off your skin without being too hot. A sexy bodychain is always a popular desert accessory.
Black Luxe Chained Bodysuit, Classy Pinstriped Duster, Faux Leather Choker, Cat Eye Sunglasses
Color pops on the Playa for sure. One day you’re wearing black latex, the next you could be riding your bike around in tie-dye and a cowgirl hat - how cool is that? This new rainbow jacket is an exclusive savormeditation product from our Dune Warrior collection is amazing, and I’d definitely rock it to a sunset or afternoon party.
Rainbow Tie Dye Fringe Jacket, Dreamy Rainbow Mesh Crop Top, Hologram Electro High Waisted Booty Shorts, Flamingo Shades
If you made it to to the Playa and helped build a camp, piece of art, or just braved a day full of dust storms then you are a badass woman! Your outfit should match and this outfit sure is that. Dominate your day in the dust with this two-piece set and fingerless gloves.
Femme Fatale Lace Up Crop Top, Femme Fatale Lace Up Bottoms, Faux Leather Choker, Salem Fingerless Gloves
Estrella Mesh Bodysuit, Starry Nights Maxi Skirt
Faux Leather Strappy Vest, Liquid Leather Bottoms, Studded Garter Belt Harness, Faux Leather Choker
Chains and Chill Tank Top, Liquid Leather Bottoms, Reflective Visor, Glitter X Factor Pasties
Open-Front Fringe Maxi Skirt
savormeditation is now carrying Rolita Couture's Prismatic Passion Collection! This futuristic line offers several styles of reflective material that create amazing photo opportunities at nighttime.
Reflection Buckle Top, Reflection Side Panel Bottoms
(just be aware of MOOP - matter out of place and remember that EVERYTHING you pack in, including sequins and glitter must be taken back out of the event)
Rhinestone High Waisted Booty Shorts, Butterly Boob Jewel, Thigh Highs, Bondage Harness
Enchanted Skies Criss Cross Sequin Top, Enchanted Skies Strappy Sequin Bottoms, Black Leg Wraps
One of the coolest things about being at the Playa is that it is created entirely by attendees. Even the lighting at night is provided by art structures, art cars, and camps. This means that you need to make sure you yourself are fully lit. You don’t want to get called a “dark wad” which is what seasoned burners call attendees caught out at night without any lights. Light up jackets are my favorite way to stay lit at night. I like to wear the cropped fur vest over a jacket for layers. The light up leg wraps are perfect for wrapping over leggings too! Do not forget to light yourself! EL wire, light up pins, light up shoes, light up cat ears work too. It’s important to make sure you’re well lit for the safety of others and especially art cars driving through the streets and deep playa at night.
Light up Blue Fur Coat, Light Up Leg Wraps, Savage Wrap Top
Tie Dye Light Up Fur Jacket, Rainbow Mesh Keyhole Halter Top, Pink Leg Wraps, Side Tie High Waisted Booty Shorts
While accessories are usually used to dress up an outfit, there are some festival essentials that are absolutely crucial to pack.
Goggles are an absolute must on the playa. You never know when an unexpected whiteout can come through and you might be miles from your Black Rock City campsite. I recommend bringing a pair of clear lens goggles for nighttime and tinted for the day, or one pair that you can swap the lens out of.
Kaleidoscope Goggles
Dust masks are key. When a "whiteout" (when dust or snow reduces visibility to next to zero) happens, you’ll want to cover your mouth unless you like eating fossilized fish dust. I always bring a few face masks, iHeart's new mouth masks are great, and seamless masks. Both options are fashionable and incredibly functional on the playa!
Rainbow Sequin Mask Bandana, Velvet Wrap Top, Festival Jewels
From sleek and chic to pink and poppin,' savormeditation offers tons of hydration packs in oodles of colors and styles.
I hope this guide helps you get an idea of how to style your BRC fits. At the end of the day, it’s all about your personal style. This festival allows you the chance to be yourself, find yourself, recreate yourself, whatever you want. Just remember, you might not get the experience you want, but you’ll always get the burn you need. Open your heart and you’ll experience something magical!

If dark vibes are more your style, go for a mystical and mysterious look. Use black as the basis of the outfit but add either strappy or sequin details. You’ll be sure to cast spells upon the dance floor.

Shambhala hosts a wide variety of electronic music from dubstep to techno to drum and bass and everything in between. Each of the 6 stages is masterfully curated by a stage director.
Photo Courtesy of Shambhala Music Festival
My must-see acts are just as varied as the musical offerings. I am super excited to see Eddie C, a legendary DJ from Berlin, who usually spins the most groovy disco tracks on all vinyl. His vibes are also out of control!
The Librarian is another one of my must-sees! They call her the librarian because she has one of the most insane music collections of all time. Best believe you have never heard a single song she’s gonna throw down in her set. She is also an all-around badass woman and one of the founders of Bass Coast.
Christian Martin is one of my favorite DirtyBird DJs. His sets always take you on a journey and are super dynamic. He plays a blend of house and techno but I am definitely hoping he airs more on the side of techno.
Last but not least, I will certainly have to see Alix Perez to get my dose of filthy drum and bass.
A playlist for each stage can also be found on Shambhala’s Spotify.
Keep an eye out for the savormeditation team and say hello, if you see us. We can't wait to meet our Canada Rave Fam!
I’ve been adding sparkle to my life since my parents first allowed me to wear makeup! But, the first time I ever got gLIT for a rave was EDC 2013. That was only my second rave ever and I made my own rave bras to wear to the fest.
I used glitter in all of my outfits, and it was this experience of dressing up for the first time that made me love the individuality celebrated within rave fashion.
I wanted to wear glitter roots to Beyond Wonderland and was hoping to find glitter with stars in it, but couldn’t find anything on the market. I ended up settling for fine glitter and glued rhinestones into my hair instead.
Nearly six months later, I was preparing my outfits for Nocturnal and still had the itch to wear chunky glitter with stars in it. Alas, it was nowhere to be found so I decided to try making it myself! I was already hand-making face gems for myself and needed something extra to top off the look. Being extra is always the goal, so I did some research, ordered samples from some cosmetic pigment suppliers, and started mixing away!
I told some of my friends about my new idea, and luckily, they were vending at Nocturnal Wonderland and invited me to join them! Lunautics launched at Nocturnal Wonderland 2016 three weeks later where we did free glitter makeovers and sold the first 50 units of glitter. It turns out that I wasn’t the only one looking for quality glitters and we haven’t slowed down since.
We were at Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas a few weeks after Lunautics launched and I gave them each a small container of glitter that weekend. I was so excited about my new idea that I just had to share! I am so lucky to call Amanda aka Mama Unicorn and Kelcey aka Tiny Dancer personal friends of mine. They have truly supported me and encouraged me on this sparkly journey!
They must have liked it because Amanda asked me to consider letting savormeditation carry it a few weeks later. I was shocked and honestly scared to work with such a well-known company, so I declined. Actually, I declined a few times, mostly because I did not think I could do it!
But with Amanda and Kelcey’s encouragement and persistence, I gained enough confidence to give it a try. And I am so thankful to them for believing in me and my brand, even when I wasn’t ready to yet. My partnership with savormeditation has been a dream come true, and I love getting to be involved with a brand that encourages unapologetic self-expression!
I am originally from the Philippines and if I could live anywhere in the world besides Los Angeles it would be at home in Makati with my cousins and family. I am so fortunate to have cousins who are more like siblings, and it has always been a dream of mine to be close to them again.
My first festival was Beyond Wonderland Bay Area 2012. I was in love with the culture from my very first experience and honestly regretted that I had not found the community sooner in my life! I thought at 26, I was already too old to rave, but here I am 6 years later still going strong, with many years left to go.
Our community of ravers means so much to me. I was a very different person before I found raves, I grew up very sheltered and with strict expectations of me. It’s cheesy but I believe I have truly found a place where I can be me, free of judgment, and it has allowed me to create a life for myself that I could never have imagined.
I like to look at the trends of what’s happening in festival and rave fashion and identify what areas of the body are left exposed so they can get gLIT. For example, last year underboob tops and cutouts were huge so I created Lunautics underboob jewels to accentuate the under the bust area.
Sometimes when I am designing new glitter color or face gem it is easier to work backward. I recently had the opportunity to collab with savormeditation to create a iHeartLunautics Line to compliment the Electric Love Collection! I got to go into their headquarters and meet with the buyers to view the collection months before its release, then I went home and drew up face gems, body gems and so much more to match. It was easy to design this new collab because I had all their amazing products to use as inspo! For example, we created a third eye face gem to match one of their seamless face masks, and daisy pasties to match their daisy print mesh tops! We even created a unicorn shaped glitter so that everybody can wear it and feel like they are part of the Unicorn Crew.

I have been in the fashion industry since I was in high school. My first job was dressing mannequins at a local department store and then I went on to be a buyer and later a store manager for two different boutiques. It was those experiences that helped me decide to pursue a degree in fashion, which I later completed at FIDM.
After college, I wanted to get into the luxury market so I interned with Louis Vuitton. I then later went on to work for two luxury department stores in a variety of roles. Most recently, I was an executive sales manager which was a job I loved. It made it very difficult for me to leave my previous career behind to pursue the growth and expansion of Lunautics.
It is exciting and scary! For the last year and a half, I worked my full-time job, and did Lunautics in any other spare time I had left in the day! I often worked 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I am still adjusting to a more regular schedule. I feel guilty whenever I am not working!
I used to make every single glitter myself, but had to consider moving to a manufacturing process when Lunautics started to take off. When it came time for Lunautics to scale up and grow beyond just me, it was important to me that our products are made ethically and benefit my local community in some way.
We now partner with Goodwill of Southern California to provide work opportunities to individuals with learning disabilities. This program gives participants on-site training and career counseling. The individuals who are employed through this job training program manufacture all of our Moon Dust glitters and prep the rest of our products for shipment. The program was designed by Goodwill to help people learn the necessary skills and behaviors to retain employment so they can live financially independent lives.
I spend at least a few days a week with the team at Goodwill in the factory located here in Los Angeles, and getting to know the people and working alongside them is definitely the most rewarding way I spend my time.
Every day is a new adventure full of possibilities! Right now, I am taking one day at a time, and focusing on being the best at what we do by providing high-quality products. We are introducing new items that complement our current assortment, like glitter glues and offering our eco-conscious customer new plant-based biodegradable glitter options as well.
The most exciting thing for the future of Lunautics is growing our team! We just recently hired a part-time graphic designer and a communications manager and with their help and ideas, Lunautics is continuing to grow. We are also beginning to hire and train a team of makeup artists who we will use for our makeover events! We have five amazing new glitter artists joining us in Vegas at the Luxor, and that event is going to be killer!
I truly believe in hiring people who are better than you, and I can’t wait to expand further and bring talented people with fresh ideas on board.
Our next big event will be the beauty bar at the Lux Rave store in Las Vegas! We are partnering with savormeditation to bring our makeup artists to the Luxor to help everybody get gLIT for EDC weekend! Catch the Lunautics team from 12:00pm-3 at Lux Rave to get your glitter and face gems done by the Glitter Gang!
We will also be partnering with Insomniac to offer a luxe glitter bar inside of the artist lounge at EDC Las Vegas! So, if you are one of the lucky ones with backstage passes, roll through and get gLIT
I can’t wait to see everybody in Vegas!

As much as we love tie-dye and rainbows, there is something to be said about wearing all black at a festival.
There’s an unspoken sense of power we feel when we wear black. There’s a level of seriousness that comes along with it and inspires us to be our most fierce and badass selves. Black doesn’t have to be boring. Layering different textures and fabrics as well as adding dimension can make a black outfit interesting and captivating.

The pentagram is one of the most misunderstood symbols in the world. It doesn’t stand for Satan worship like many think - in fact, far from it! The 5 points of the star actually symbolize the elements we encounter. The top line represents the spirit while the other four lines represent the elements: earth, air, fire, and water. To wear this symbol is to call upon the power of these elements and use them to your advantage.

An easy way to take your black outfit to the next level is to add interesting legwear. From moon and star patterns to every level of fishnet, we’ve got your legs covered-- literally. Some of our pairs even come with an attached garter belt for extra strappiness and comfort.
No sorceress outfit would be complete without a dash of shimmer and shine. From metallic fabrics and sequins to cascading jingles, a sparkling element is essential. Even if your outfit is all black, adding glitter or face jewels is essential.

I sat down with Jamie, an artist, body painter and founder of DiscoEyes, to dig a little deeper into the creation of this fabulous new brand.
]]>I sat down with Jamie, an artist, body painter and founder of this amazing company, to dig a little deeper into the creation of this fabulous new brand.
Tessla: So, I know you’ve been face and body painting for years. What made you transition into making your own glitter?
Jamie: I decided that I wanted to create my own line of festival glitter because I've incorporated glitter into my face and body paintings for a really long time. I've got about 12 years of experience using a variety of different types of face glitters on clients, models, festival goers, and of course myself! I felt that I was ready to use my professional experience to create an amazing product that is easy to use and that is available to everyone, not just professional makeup artists.

Tessla: Why is making biodegradable glitter important to you? What’s it made out of?
Jamie: Making biodegradable glitter is important to me because I want to give people a more sustainable option when it comes to choosing glitter and cosmetics. It gives eco-conscious consumers a better way to have a guilt-free experience and feel good about the products they are using.
Our DiscoEyes line of Biodegradable glitters are made from sustainably grown eucalyptus trees sourced from farms in Europe. We mix the special blends with 91% organic aloe vera leaf juice, plus a bit of organic lavender, to create a beautiful glitter gel that glides on smooth and stays on for hours. This is ideal for ravers and festival goers because it allows for easy application on the dancefloor without having to use harsh glues or adhesives, or even a mirror!
Something funny I want to mention is that the name DiscoEyes came so randomly. In 2012 right before Burning Man, I found a framed poster of Mona Lisa at a local yard sale. I glued glitter to Mona Lisa's face and painted over her so she looked like she had makeup on. Then I got some glitter paper, cut out the letters "DiscoEyes" and glued it to the poster. I used the DiscoEyes poster to decorate my mobile glitter booth at the Burn. Little did I know it would be the name of my glitter company 5 years later :)
Tessla: I also know you have painted murals and done things in public places in that past. What has been your favorite site-specific art piece?
Jamie: I would have to say my favorite piece of public art is a house that I painted in a residential area in Long Beach. It makes so many people smile when they walk past it, and I've been told it's even brought the neighborhood together! Like wearing glitter, creating art is all about self-expression, and it also inspires others to escape from their everyday routines. Art and glitter reminds us to have fun in life, and that we don't have to be so serious :)
Tessla: What was your first festival/rave?
Jamie: My first rave was called Narnia, and that was in 1999. We got a bunch of friends together and drove out to a place called the "dustbowl" near San Diego. I remember walking up to the rave and being entranced by the thumping bass. We explored all the different areas and rooms and danced all night until the morning. The people were just magical and I knew I had stumbled upon something very special!

Tessla: How has festival and rave culture inspired you?
Jamie: At festivals and raves, creativity goes above and beyond. People really stretch the limits of what can be done! Festival and rave culture have been a huge part of my life since high school. I am now in my 30's, and rave and festival culture are more apart of my life than ever! You can become the person you've always wanted to be, without being judged. We're just all trying to express ourselves and create an amazing experience. I hope that DiscoEyes Glitter can embody the same ideals, and help people to let their lights shine.

Tessla: Can you give us a festival pro-tip?
Jamie: My festival pro-tip would be to carry your DiscoEyes festival glitter in your backpack or fannypack so you always have it handy. Then when you see someone whose vibe you love, ask them if they'd like some too! It's a great way to meet new people, and you'll be able to spot their shining faces in the crowd. You might even meet some of your new festie besties!

Tessla: What are you most excited about in beauty/fashion right now?
Jamie: The most exciting thing in beauty and fashion to me are the unique styles and creations! I feel like we are in the most creative era of fashion right now, because people are taking more chances and wearing the most brightly colored, eclectic, and off-the-wall outfits. There are no rules! And that's what makes it fun.

Tessla: What’s your favorite mythical creature and why?
Jamie: I would have to say to this day Unicorns are my favorite. When I was a kid, I drew them in my notebooks in school, and during recess, on rainy days I used to charge .25 cents to make unicorn drawings for the other kids. It was then that I decided to have my own business when I grew up.
Tessla: What’s a song or DJ you’ll never stop listening to?
Jamie: I will never stop listening to Mark Farina's "Mushroom Jazz" albums. I'd listen to these albums on the way to parties and raves, or just hanging out. They never get old.

Tessla: What does the future hold for Disco Eyes?
Jamie: The future of DiscoEyes is all about creating fun festival makeup products for self-expression and making them accessible to all. The icing on the cake is that our products are sustainably produced, and contain the best possible ingredients - I hope that this will inspire other cosmetic products to do the same. I see DiscoEyes growing to be a trusted brand that people get inspired by and feel great using when choosing a face glitter for festivals.

When did you start raving/ going to festivals?
My first electronic music event was in my country, Panama, in 2007 when I saw Donald Claude for the first time. That day, I fell in love with electronic music and since then I have been raving nonstop.
Tell us about one of your most epic memories from a rave/festival.
I have so many good memories that it’s hard to just choose one but my favorite one was my wedding at EDCLV. That whole day was pure magic, beautiful and unbelievable. I married the best man in the world, my partner in crime, my best friend and the person who gave me the idea to start this business. I shared that special moment with some of my closest friends and I had the opportunity to meet Amanda (Mama Unicorn) and Kelcey (Tiny Dancer) for the first time.
Some of the best things about that day besides getting married to an amazing man is that I made my own wedding dress and my husband’s outfit with the help of my brother. My brother gave the outfits that extra touch and to share that with him was beautiful.

Tell me about your relationship with savormeditation.
Since I started Rolita Couture, I have looked at iHR as an inspiration to grow and get better at what I do. It’s incredible how Brian has grown a small business to what it is right now. I have watched his Shark Tank experience a couple of time just to learn more about him. I love what you guys do for the rave community, you are always empowering women to feel comfortable in their own body.
What inspired you to create this magical attire?
When I have the chance to go to festivals, I pay attention to what styles girls are wearing, so when I go back home I have an idea of what to make. Festivals, in general, are a big inspiration because you see all kinds of people wearing crazy things and It doesn’t matter if the colors match or not. What’s important is that we feel great!

What does PLUR mean to you?
For me, PLUR is more than what the words say: Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. It’s a lifestyle and it should be practiced every day and not just by us ravers but the entire world. It would be amazing if other people outside the rave community knew about it and practiced. Imagine if we lived in a world full of peace and love, respecting everyone around us and getting along as one. The world would be fascinating.
What’s one song you’ll never stop listening to?
There are many songs that I love to listen to so I can’t choose one but if you ask me who my favorite DJ is, it would be Major Lazer. They remind me of the good ole days in my country of Panama. I love how they mix reggae with electronic music.
What is your everyday attire?
Well, since I work at home, you would see me every day wearing pajamas or the most comfortable old clothes I have in my closet and barefoot.
If you were a mythical creature, what would you be?
I would be a Fairy because they are magical, can fly, love to dance and they love sparkly things just like me.

Describe your dream home.
My dream home, ( I hope this really happens) is by the beach back in my country or Costa Rica. It’s going to be small and comfy with two bedrooms, one for me and my husband and the other one for my siblings and kids when they want to visit me and a studio for my sewing machine and fabric to sew on my free time.
Describe your customer in 3 words.
Beautiful, amazing and patient. I love them all.
What’s your favorite piece in the collection and why?
My favorite piece in the collection is the Fantasy Skirt in Unicorn [colors] because it was inspired by my wedding dress. I got so many compliments that day even from guys that wanted to get it for their girlfriends that I decided to make something similar to what I wore that day.
What are your hopes for Rolita Couture in the future?
I have accomplished many of my goals in these four years but the next big one is to have a bigger studio with six sewing machines because I want to keep the good quality of my products by making everything handmade in the USA. I don't trust manufacturing companies to handle my products the way I want. I would also want space for shipping, inventory, and a small showroom. I want to create more jobs to give opportunities to other people in fashion.
