]]>My boyfriend and I, at the time, copped a package as soon as they went on sale. Sadly, the basic room package we wanted sold out within the first few minutes after the drop. We ended up securing a premium package with a balcony hot tub (which I was not mad about).
The lineup for Deja Voom was right up my alley. It featured the man himself performing 3 unique sets and even boasted a Dirty Bird Pool party one of the days. Other artists on the lineup included Rezz, The Glitch Mob, and 12th Planet.
Saying I was excited about this event is an understatement. I spent months planning my outfits and made sure to book our flights and excursions ahead of time to save money.
I didn’t sleep for even an hour the night before our flights to Mexico. This was my most highly anticipated event of the year and I wanted to absorb every minute of all of its greatness. After a short flight from Florida to Cancun, I was in Mexico!
Following customs, we were greeted immediately by smiling employees carrying Deja Voom signs. They provided buses from the airport directly to the resort, and the energy coming off all the bassheads on the way to the resort was insane. This was going to be the best event of the year!
As soon as we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by more smiling employees handing us tequila lemonades. They weren’t kidding when they said alcohol would be flowing! The check-in process was quick and easy, and a bellhop took our luggage directly to our room.
I 1000% believe the premium package was worth the extra money. Our room was massive and the staff treated us by leaving a bottle of tequila in our room. The room also had two huge couches and a private hot tub on the balcony. Not to mention- we were directly above the pool where Claude and all his dirty birds would be throwing down later that weekend.
Between the Haven, the pool parties, and the excursions, there were plenty of things to keep the attendees preoccupied during the day.
I did spend a lot of time at the Haven soaking up all the positive vibes. Bassnectar turned a small theatre in the resort into a full-time relaxation area. Tables were set up with ambassadors ready to answer questions. The gift alter also made a return, and I even scored a box of girl scout cookies from there!
The Haven also provided a series of workshops for festival goers to attend. I only got a chance to attend the Reiki healing session and one of the yoga sessions, but if I could go back I would definitely do more.
As far as excursions go, there were a few you could book through the CID portal that was exclusively for festival attendees. I decided to book the Tulum day trip, which was one of the cheaper and closer options for our resort.
Tulum is a popular tourist destination in Quintana Roo. The city boasts ancient Maya ruins and thousands of visitors come in each day to see the sites. This was one of the aspects of the festival I liked the most- having the ability to go off and see what a different country had to offer. Shoutout to all my bassheads on the Tulum day trip!
Once the sun went down, the freaks came out! Each night we headed towards the beach towards the festival grounds. The stage was actually placed on the beach, meaning you could dip your toes in the water while watching your favorite artist play.
After walking past the Bienvenidos light up sign, we were greeted by tons of waiters carrying trays of beer and margaritas. They were placed around the venue and were even walking through the crowd bringing guests drinks. The staff was extremely nice and all seemed to be enjoying the music as much as we were.
After the main sets ended, the party continued until early in the morning. The late night sets were insane! The resort had three different clubs that were turned into after parties. They even hosted a late night buffet right outside the clubs filled with munchies.
During the event, there were several social media posts about the bassheads at the resort and how disrespectful they were to the other guests. I’ll admit, there were definitely a few bassheads running around until the wee hours of the morning keeping people up. I did hear one elderly couple complain to some staff- but for the most part, everyone else seemed to be enjoying their time too much to care about what we were doing. I also talked to the staff directly and they said they didn’t have a problem with any of the attendees- just the other guests at the resort. They also mentioned to me that they had dealt with worse concertgoers at some of the other events they hosted and that we were better tippers than all their other guests.
I 100% believe I will be attending Deja Voom next year. When you break it down, the high cost is worth it (especially if you consume as much tequila and tacos that I did). This experience was one I will never forget, and I highly recommend any basshead to start saving now for next year. I promise this is one Bassnectar event you won’t want to miss again.
]]>@bridgiebridgiebridgie and @ummitsozzy soaking up the sun at Imagine Music Festival
Over 30,000 attendees entered the gates of Imagine each day for their fifth anniversary last year, and this year Imagine is gearing up to be one of the hottest events in the southeast. Imagine is known for its expansive variety of EDM acts, mind-blowing stages, and heart-stopping performances. But the fun doesn’t stop there!
At Imagine, the party never stops! During the day, they offer a variety of workshops like yoga and guided meditation. Ping pong, pool, foosball, and a variety of field day events take place each day in the campgrounds. If you’re feeling the heat, take a break in the huge splash pool- this was a popular spot for my group and many other attendees.

If you’ve got time between sets- make sure to check out the Ferris wheel! It’s not only a great photo location but also gives you prime viewing areas of the entire speedway. I’d definitely recommend going during the day and again at night to check out the whole show.
Photo via @bk_raves
After the festival grounds close each night, the party continues in the campgrounds! All campers will be able to dance late into the night with your friends (new and old) at the silent disco. With a full production stage, this silent disco is one of the largest in the country.
If you didn’t make it to Imagine Music Festival in 2018 or want to relive all the magic that took place, check out their official festival after movie. The after movie features tracks “Follow Me (featuring Adventure Club & Sara Diamond” by Snails and “Starlight (feat. Mr Gabriel)” by Jai Wolf and all the nostalgic vibes from the past year. Seriously, watching this video gave me the chills- and made me even more hyped for this year's event (if that’s even possible)!
Tickets are already on sale for Imagine 2019 - so what are you waiting for? If you’re short on funds, don’t worry, Imagine has your back- payment plans are available for a downpayment as low as $57 (thank the rave gods)!
PS… a little birdy told me that the lineup will be announced soon! Make sure to follow Imagine’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to stay up to date with all the exciting announcements they’ll be making this month. Can’t wait to dance with all of you guys at Imagine in September!
]]>I attended Imagine for the first time back in 2017. Being from Florida, going to this festival seemed like a no-brainer (since it was so close and hosted a wide variety of artists). However, last year the festival faced some organizational problems, including long will call/box office lines and even longer lines going into the venue. Although I still had a good time at the Festival last year, the kinks made me hesitant to return to the festival this year. Eventually, the lineup and Imagine’s promise to fix out all the kinks from last year persuaded me to go.
Driving into the campgrounds, I knew I had made the right decision. The cars filed in smoothly with assistance from staff everywhere. The whole process took less than an hour, and getting into the venue took no more than 10 minutes each day.
The campgrounds vastly improved from last year, with more activities to do during the day and tons of vendors to buy food, drinks, and merchandise. There was even a juice stand giving out free cups of juice to keep everyone hydrated in the hot sun!
And I’m not kidding when I say it was hot. With averages around 80-90 degrees each day, this is one festival I highly recommend you bring a hydration pack to. Thankfully, the lines were decent and getting water was a breeze.
The stages were also a vast refinement from last year. The main stage looked like it came straight out of an aquatic fairytale!

And there were tons of lasers when the sun went down.

If I had to pick a favorite set from the weekend, it would hands-down be Zeds Dead. They never disappoint, and Imagine Music Festival was no exception. Other honorable mentions include Bassnectar, RL Grime, and Liquid Stranger.
If you weren’t too busy catching the sets, there were tons of activities to explore inside the speedway. The wading pool was a popular spot and kept all of us cooled off during the hot sun, and was personally my favorite. There was also a water slide, a ferris wheel, and countless art exhibits. Another amazing part of IMF? The food! If you’re a foodie like me, you NEED to go to this festival. The vendors had a great selection of food, ranging from noodles to southern BBQ.
Aside from the amazing food and the activities, my favorite part of the entire festival had to be the vibes. For many, Imagine is the end of the summer festival season, and everyone is out to have a good time. From laying in the grass at the Oceania stage to boogieing all night at the disco inferno stage, there was never a dull moment.
All in all, I was impressed with all the improvements the festival managed to make. I would highly recommend Imagine to anyone interested in attending. It’s not only the perfect finale to the summer festival season, but the festival shows Atlanta’s southern hospitality with good vibes and amazing attendees.

There’s no doubting this lineup is fire. Voodoo Music Festival boasts a wide variety of genres, including EDM, rock, pop, and rap. Voodoo is the festival you can bring all of your friends to and ensure there’s something for everyone. I’ve been dying to see Arctic Monkeys since my emo days and Childish Gambino is one of the hottest rappers in the game right now. With acts like Odesza, Zeds Dead, Tipper, Rufus Du Sol, Kayzo, and Space Jesus, you’ll be sure to get your EDM fix.
Voodoo takes place each year in New Orleans, Louisiana. If you’ve never been, this is the time to go. New Orleans is famous for its nightlife, live music scene, and delicious cuisine that reflects a blend of French, African, and American culture. It's an especially fun place to be during Halloween because the entire city goes all out for this holiday. There’s also tons of historic spots to visit in New Orleans. Overall, it makes a great vacation spot so I recommend taking a few extra days to not only enjoy the festival but to also explore the city. Make time to explore Bourbon Street, Jackson Square, the Garden District, and don’t forget to get a beignet (basically a deep-fried pastry covered in powdered sugar - yum!) at the world famous Cafe du Monde.
There’s already plenty of dressing up at regular music festivals, but Halloween is the time to go hard or go home. Everyone at VooDoo (and all New Orleans during Halloweekend) will be rocking costumes and getting their spook on. In 2016, I dressed up as Miley Cyrus, a hippie, and a nun (pictured below). Voodoo is your chance to get creative so let it all out!
Voodoo’s festival grounds are nestled in City Park and are quite spacious. The grounds contain three stages, the Altar (the main stage), the South Course, and Le Plur (the EDM stage). There are also massive and interactive art installations to explore throughout the festival grounds. The 2018 festival map has yet to be released yet, but I’ve included the 2017 map to give you an idea of the lay of the land.
I can’t miss a GRiZ set at any festival! Originally from Michigan, GRiZ always brings the funk to Electric Forest. He will be performing a live set both weekends, meaning there’s a 100% chance the good times will roll after he brings out his saxophone. His funky, electro-soul sets are a safe bet for first time Forester’s or for the experienced. His track, “PS GFY”, is a great summary of GRiZ’s unique sound and his IDGAF attitude. If you’re trying to get down with all your friends, don’t miss GRiZ!
Electric Forest will be my first time seeing Rufus Du Sol. This Australian Deep House trio consists of members Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt. I first discovered their good vibes after hearing their song “Like an Animal”. I get goosebumps whenever I listen to it. They recently just released a new single, “No Place”, and I honestly can’t wait to hear it for the first time live at Electric Forest.
I wasn’t very familiar with The Glitch Mob before seeing them on the Electric Forest lineup. The LA based trio is known for combining unique sounding music with artistic visual components. The Glitch Mob has also just recently dropped their new album, “See Without Eyes”, and will be playing their new stuff at Forest. “Take Me With You” has been on repeat since I first started listening to them. Headlining both weekends of Electric Forest, The Glitch Mob is ready to bring their innovative sounds to the Forest.
I first stumbled upon Clozee at Okeechobee Music Festival. The young French producer stands out amongst other popular artists at the moment, and for a good reason. She’s mastered the skill of incorporating traditional instruments and bass into one of the most original sounds I’ve ever heard. She has just recently started touring in the United States and will be performing both weekends of Electric Forest. If you’re looking to discover new artists, or are in the mood for some trippy glitch music, definitely check out Clozee’s set.
A lot of us are still asking ourselves, who the heck is Malaa? Malaa broke out onto the house scene after his single “Notorious” went viral. One of the most interesting things about Malaa is the mystery surrounding him. He performs every set in a balaclava to hide his identity. Despite lack of knowledge surrounding Malaa, he is currently signed to the iconic Tchami’s label and even collaborated with him on an entire EP. If you love house music, shuffling, and getting groovy, check out Malaa’s set both weekends of Forest.
Our first look goes out to all our purple loving plurmaids out there. You’ll be the cutest mermaid in this holographic purple crop top, matching mermaid booty shorts, and purple glitter leg wraps. And no look would be complete without a little glitter- aka these fabulous mermaid face jewels!
This look combines two of our favorite trends right now: sequins and platforms! Stand out in the crowd in the disco mermaid sequin rave top, the new disco mermaid high waisted bottoms and fence net thigh highs. These YRU Platform Shoes are a must-have for festival season- and we carry a bunch of different styles on the site!
Crystal crowns are another huge trend that will be rocked at Sunset Music Festival. This look was based off this beautiful crystal crown available exclusively at savormeditation. The more glitter, the better, so I paired the party monster sequin bodysuit with baby pink sparkly leg wraps. Finish off your pretty pink look with lunatics glitter and face jewels.
This holographic baelien outfit is out of this world! This look was inspired by one of Tiny Dancer’s fabulous Phoenix Lights outfits and is perfect if you’re looking to step out of your comfort zone. I’ve paired the disco cut out halter top with holographic lace-up bottoms and the space babe skirt. Accessories are key to any outfit and studded harness and rhinestone choker complete this look nicely.
Ariel- is that you? If you want to stay cool in the hot Florida sun, this mermaid-inspired look is perfect for you! This sequin fringe bralette, mermaid high waisted booty shorts, and shell pasties will make you look like the queen of the ocean. Finish it off with body jewels and glitter and you’ll be ready to dance all night long!
Feel free to use any of the above outfits for any of your inspiration! Keep in mind these are merely suggestions. The great part about rave culture is that you can wear whatever you want and not be judged for it! As long as you dress for the Florida heat, you'll be good to go! See you all at Sunset Music Festival!
]]>This is something I can’t stress enough! Once you step inside the festival grounds you’ll realize how expansive the forest actually is. My first year I made the mistake of staying at the stages all day and didn’t give myself enough time to soak everything in. There’s surprises waiting for you everywhere, make the time to find them!
I mentioned this in my last blog post, Electric Forest Prep 101, but don’t forget to bring a gift for the giving tree! The giving tree is an Electric Forest tradition. All you need to do is bring a small gift (the more thought the better) and place it on the giving tree inside the festival grounds. After leaving something, you get to choose a little gift for yourself from the tree. You’ll never know what you might find there!
The art installations are by far my favorite part of Electric Forest. Artists from across the United States apply to feature their art in the Forest, and they pick the best of the best. They range from as small and detailed as the gnome garden pictured above to the giant wooden sculpture down below. The installations are fun to look at and are great photo backgrounds too!
I know all your favorites are going to be at Electric Forest, but hear me out. You’ll most likely be able to see your top picks at another festival, so why not branch out and check out other artists? There are over seven stages at Electric Forest with sets going constantly. Chances are you’ll find a new artist to add to your favorites in the process!

Electric Forest is a dangerous festival if you love shopping like me. There are vendors from across the US selling unique items you won’t be able to get anywhere else! Don’t forget to stop by the Electric Forest merch tent as well!

See you all in the Forest!
]]>This festival is famous for integrating art and music together to create a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From Marshmello to Jauz to the String Cheese Incident, the musical lineup is extremely diverse, uniting fans of all types of genres together.
Whether it’s your first Forest Experience or your sixth, check out these useful tips that you'll need to thrive in the Forest this summer.
Just like any other camping festival, plan to arrive early! Electric Forest even offers Wednesday early arrival passes, and I highly recommend purchasing one. Arriving on Wednesday will not only ensure you won’t be stuck in any festival traffic but also gives you a whole extra day in the Forest. Take the time to set up camp, meet your neighbors, and get to know your surroundings. If you can’t arrive on Wednesday, the campground gates will be open 24/7 starting Thursday at 12 AM.
This is something I didn’t do last year that I immensely regret. While there isn’t an actual water park in the campgrounds, Electric Forest does offer shuttles to the nearby Gold Rush Water Park. Tickets to the water park are $20 per visit and there will be shuttles leaving on regular intervals between 10 AM-6 PM. Pro tip: the water park has showers (which are included in the price of your admission) so take advantage of them!
The weather at Forest ranges from the 90’s during the day to the 40’s at night. The temperature change will be felt immediately after the sun goes down. Personally, I like to plan two outfits per day (one for during the day and one at night). It can be hard to stand out in the crowd when it’s cold - but cute jackets like this Shagedlic Fur Coat and this Purrfect Faux Fur Coat from savormeditation make it easy. Check out their outerwear section for more outfit inspiration!
Come prepared for all types of unfavorable weather conditions! Last year it rained the first few days of the festival and my camping group was incredibly unprepared. Learn from our mistakes and bring rain ponchos, rain boots, a canopy, and plenty of extra tarps for your campsite!
I can’t stress this enough; make sure to set aside some time to explore the Forest! Check out the art installations, the silent disco, and even try to take a whack at the scavenger hunt they put on every year. There’s even a giving tree in the Forest (where people leave/take gifts), so make sure to bring a gift! And don’t just explore during the day, the forest is even more magical at night!
Whether it’s your first forest or your sixth, go in each year with no expectations. Forget anything you might’ve heard about the forest or the pictures you’ve seen. Nothing will do it justice until you see it for yourself. Soak up everything you can while you’re there, try new things, explore unknown artists, and have the time of your life.
Electric Forest is by far one of my favorite festivals and you can catch me there for weekend 2! Plan your forest adventure and grab your 2018 Electric Forest Tickets here.
]]>Okeechobee’s venue is a dream out of a fairy tale. They proudly boast an Aquachobee Beach Stage (complete with a lake for swimming), which welcomed us Thursday evening with a full moon party hosted by Thriftworks, Opiuo, and Bassnectar. The best part about Aquachobee Beach Stage? No security - meaning you’re free to bring a cooler full of canned beer or a bag of wine to slap to the beach (as long as you’re of legal drinking age). The Aquachobee Beach Stage is in the heart of the Moonlight Oasis, your go-to for awesome vendors and some of the best festival food out there. There’s always something to explore in the Moonlight Oasis, whether it be the Tea Lounge, or the Jive Joint (a comedy stage featuring ridiculous acts that are amazing to stumble upon at 5 AM). The Grove (the main festival grounds) opened on Friday morning, and for the rest of the weekend we were free to explore the Be, Here, and Now stages as well as the Moonlight Oasis.
On top of the amazing venue, somehow the Okeechobee gods always manage to bless us with perfect weather. This year, a cold front decided to hit Florida the Friday of Okeechobee, leaving us with highs of 80 during the day and lows of 50 at night - perfect weather for partying all day and night.
Okeechobee’s lineup was nothing short of being stacked. Personally, I am a huge EDM nerd and acts like Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, Tipper, Big Gigantic, Gramatik, and Illenium immediately drew me to the festival for my second year. Okeechobee prides itself on being a multi-genre music festival, with acts like Arcade Fire, Halsey, and Travis Scott earning their own headliners spot. Something unique to Okeechobee they bring back every year is a “Powow” where several artists across different genres get together for one special set. This year we were graced by Snoop Dogg, The Roots, Joey Badass, and Dominic Lalli (from Big Gigantic) all on the same stage for a truly magical experience.
Arguably, my favorite thing about Okeechobee is how they keep the party going all night long. The main festival grounds close around 1 or 2am, and for other music festivals that would be the end of it. Nope! Not at Okeechobee. Located just across from the Aquachobee Beach Stage was the Incendia stage, a bass stage that literally spewed fire into the wee hours of the night. If you were lucky, you got to catch the secret set with Illenium and Big Gigantic b2b on Saturday night. If bass wasn't necessarily your thing, you could find serenity in Jungle 51: an all-night stage nested in the woods that only plays techno and house music.
Although I was hesitant to purchase my ticket at first, after all the sound issues they had in previous years and the cost of tickets going up, I’m happy about my decision. The bass could be heard for miles and everything that seemed to go wrong my first year was completely fixed this year. Although the crowd size increased from last year, Okeechobee still made the experience feel incredibly intimate. I didn’t come across one festival goer with bad vibes the whole weekend. If you’re looking for a festival with a great venue, beautiful weather, a wide variety of music genres, and a non-stop party - look no further than Okeechobee Music Festival. We’ll be waiting for you to enter the portal with us next year!
]]>The idea of raving with a parent had never really occurred to me before. Would she be a headbanger? Or a member of the trance fam? Either way, I was intrigued. I needed to see my mom in that setting.
After browsing the upcoming shows in my area, I decided Lane 8 would be the best option for us. If you’ve never heard of Lane 8, he is a deep house artist and one of my favorite DJ’s at the moment. His show would provide all of the good vibes I was looking for, and wouldn’t scare my mom off. I quickly purchased two tickets for us and let my mom know she would be going to her first “rave thingy”.
Leading up to the show, I was nervous. I had no idea what to expect going in. Thankfully, the ladies at savormeditation had us covered. They were kind enough to send my mom and me matching rave tops, fuzzy cat ears, and face jewels for the perfect rave outfits. Not only would my mom be going to her first EDM event, but she would be going in style!
The night of the show I headed on over to my mom’s house. Seeing her decked out for the first time was surreal to me! She was especially fascinated by the face jewels and kept asking me if she could wear them every day (don’t we all wish mom). After having some champagne, I sat my mom down for a quick pre-show interview.
What is your name, age, and where are you from?
Mom: My name is Tracey Williams, a southern woman never reveals her age, and I am from Collierville, Tennessee (a small town right outside of Memphis).
So you’re from the south, did this have any influence on your music taste growing up?
Mom: For sure. My whole life I’ve only really listened to country music. Pop is OK, but Country is definitely my favorite.
Are you able to tell me what EDM stands for?
Mom: Don’t laugh at me, but I think its Electronic Disco Music?
What do you know about current EDM culture?
Mom: I don’t know much, just that my daughter loves it. My boyfriend has told me a few stories from when he was once apart of the rave culture.
Can you name any EDM DJ’s?
Mom: Tonight we’re going to see Lane 8, but other than that no.
How do you expect tonight to go?
Mom: I expect to enjoy the music, the lights, have some drinks, and have a good time.
I could see the excitement in my mom’s eyes. She was always down to try something new, and spending time with her daughter is something she’s always been passionate about. After one more glass of champagne, we piled into my mom’s boyfriend’s car (who decided to join us after getting a case of FOMO) and headed to the event.
We got through security right when Lane 8 began his set. His music has such a euphoric vibe and I knew we were in for a good night. Every time the beat would drop, I’d look back at my mom to see her grinning from ear to ear. We danced together throughout the set, and I could immediately feel a new bond forming between us. It’s refreshing for a parent to take a genuine interest in something I love so much.
After the show ended, we all headed to McDonald’s to get some post-show nutrients. In the drive thru line, I asked my mom what she thought of the show.
“Most concerts that I’ve been too aren’t like this one. There are rushes of euphoria from the buildup.”
“Would you go to a festival?” I asked
“I loved the show, I don’t know if I’d camp for it, but I’d definitely go again.”
This experience I shared with my mom is something I would never trade. It gave her a new understanding of EDM culture and why her “raver” daughter was so fascinated by it. We plan to go to more events together in the future.
If you ever have the opportunity to take your parents to a show or festival, I’d highly recommend it. Even if they don’t end up liking the music, it’s a fun bonding experience for everyone involved.
Thank you so much to savormeditation for sending us our lovely outfits, the experience wouldn’t have been the same without them!
