If you’ve ever been to an EDM festival, chances are you’ve seen people wearing blanket-like scarves around their necks. These are called pashminas, and they are a huge part of rave fashion and culture. These super soft accessories get their name from the special type of cashmere used to make them. If you don’t already have a pashmina, I definitely recommend getting one.

The history of pashminas is a tale of timeless elegance and enduring craftsmanship that traces its origins to the rugged terrain of the Himalayas and the skilled artisans of Kashmir. From royal patronage in centuries past to their global appeal today, pashminas have evolved from traditional shawls to versatile fashion accessories, captivating hearts with their luxurious texture and intricate designs. Despite facing challenges, efforts toward sustainability and ethical sourcing aim to preserve this cherished tradition for generations to come, ensuring that the allure of pashminas continues to weave its magic, bridging the past, present, and future with elegance and refinement.

Not totally sold on this trend yet, or still a little confused? Here are a few things you can do with your pash:

Upgrade your outfit

A pashmina is an awesome accessory. If you have the perfect outfit but feel like it's missing something, a pashmina could be just what you need. This Baby Pink Pixie Dreams Pashmina would be the perfect addition to your dreamy, pastel look. If you’re going for a more psychedelic feel, try this Dark Nirvana Pashmina. No matter what vibe you give off, there’s a pash to compliment your style!

Protect yourself from the elements

Pashminas are great for all types of weather. They are pretty thin, but the extra layer of fabric can work magic in the cold. When the temperature drops at night, wrap a pashmina around yourself for extra warmth, I promise it makes all the difference. You can also use it to protect your face and shoulders from the sun during the day. When you’re dancing and the air gets thick with dust, try wrapping your pashmina around your face as a dust mask. No matter what mother nature throws at you, look to your pashmina for protection.

Create your own safe space

Festivals can be stressful. There is a lot going on and you are surrounded by unfamiliar faces. If you’re feeling overstimulated, try wrapping yourself in your pashmina or throwing it over your head. A lot of people swear by this method because it helps them calm down and focus on the music. It’s easy to get overwhelmed in a crowd, so use your pashmina as your security blanket when you’re feeling uneasy.

Play with your personal style

A pashmina is a great starting point if you want to experiment with your personal style. It can easily be added or removed from any outfit without ruining the look. You can start with a look you already love, like the Sexy To Infinity Outfit, and make it even more special with a pashmina. This outfit would look awesome with a black or neon green pash! You can also pick a pashmina that shows off your personality and build an outfit around it. Get creative with colors and patterns or rep your favorite artist, the choices are endless!
