We asked a few rave babes for their most magical tips for anyone dating a raver.
Here are 10 of our favorites tips for dating a raver:
1. “Let her express the true queen within (let her wear what she wants). Respect what they choose to wear! [Be]cause we want to be comfortable and look good. Also be ok with us stealing your jacket at the end of the night.” -Megan Moberly
2. "Be open-minded and take interest in her music and culture. Teaching each other new things is half the fun of a relationship. If you're into the music as well, make her a playlist of music you think she's like and seek new opportunities to see music together. Also be open to dressing up and matching at raves. That's her way of showing people that you're her rave bae and she loves you". -@tinydancer_88

4. “Be willing to take pictures at festivals together ♥️ it’s nice to go back those pictures and remember the good memories you had together at raves and festivals” -@loanabanana82

5. “Be open to trying new things, including listening to new music! Music is a huge part of a rave girl’s life, and if she’s sharing her beats with you it’s a way for her to connect with you on a new level. Listen to it with an open mind, and even if it’s not your taste appreciate that she heard it and wanted to share it with you.” -Mariann Roberts @_mroberts
6. “ACCEPT HER FOR WHO SHE IS 🙌🏼. Do not expect her to change anything about what she wears, how often she goes out, or how friendly she is with EVERYONE in the community! She is a free spirit who quite literally can’t be tamed, but will stay so, so loyal to the one who loves her for who she is.” - Tianna Patrick

8. “Keep up your endurance, us raver girls are tough and can stand for hours! Lol you want to keep up with your new bae and not make her sit during crucial sets! Lol.” -Amy Garibay
9. “Her rave friends are family, they are important to her, want to be apart of it and meet them during outside of rave activities.” -@kasiebugg
10. “Attend a fest with her, at least once. Even if you don’t consider yourself a ‘raver,’ it’s important to at least try out something that means so much to her. Who knows, you may end up loving it and becoming a raver yourself!” -Mariann Roberts @_mroberts

My words are tangled among the electrifying beats that are raging from Marshmello’s set. You can hardly hear a word over the ocean of sound, but my festie-bestie smiles and shouts, “I know, this is unreal!”
Imagine Music Festival (IMF) 2019 was one of the most magical festivals I’ve ever experienced. This deep-sea adventure pulled me out of the hustle and bustle of my regular life and plunged me headfirst into a weekend of magic, mystic and (of course) a tidal wave of wicked music.
Imagine is held in the beautiful city of Atlanta, Georgia. I live all the way up in the Great White North (Canada), but I had heard so many amazing things about this festival that I knew this was one trip I absolutely had to take. Let me tell you, I could not be happier with my decision.
On the first day, walking through the venue gates of the Atlanta Motor Speedway, I immediately felt a rush of magic floating through the air. As I looked out from the stands of the raceway, I could see a fairytale world that was created with one purpose in mind: to bring people together through a love of music.

From the glowing lights of the Ferris wheel to the four (and later, five) raging stages, to the food trucks, art pieces, pool parties, performers, vendors, lasers and everything in between, the vibe was perfect at IMF and I could not have been more impressed with the entire production.
Pulling into the parking lot of this underwater fantasy, I could see an entire village of vehicles and tents filling in the campground area. Known as the "Captain's Quarters," and sponsored by savormeditation, what was once an open field was now a community of peace, love, unity and respect as it became a home-away-from-home for many Imagineers. There was no shortage of adventure in this mini-makeshift town — ever been to a silent disco afterparty? Picture the perfect amount of party rage without waking up your neighbors. From workshops and yoga classes to craft and food areas, the party-energy gushed from the campground and flooded the fest (in a completely magical, not a plumbing issue type of way).
As I walked through the gates and my black combat boots clanked down the steel steps, I could feel the anticipation flowing through my veins. Stepping onto the pavement, I could see the smiles from a wave of ravers light up as bursts of fire shot into the sky from the Disco Inferno stage. It was go time.
First things first, let’s talk festival fashion. I fell madly in love with all of the bold and beautiful outfits I saw at Imagine. The amount of self-expression and individuality the crowd had to offer was captivating. From colorful wigs to neon leg wraps and everything in between, everyone looked like they were one of the glorious art pieces scattered throughout the venue.
I rocked savormeditation for my looks for all three nights, and I have to admit I felt fierce as hell with my maxi skirts and fringe dress flowing in the wind. Check out my fits here:

Day 3
Speaking of the crowd, the vibe at IMF could not have been more spectacular. Everyone had a mountain of energy and was filled with loving good vibes in the form of smiles and smudging glitter across my cheekbones in the bathroom line (Thank you to the sweet beauty queen who helped bring out my inner mermaid!).
From the rad new pals we made at our hotel to the lovely souls we sat beside during our bike-taxi adventures, the IMF crowd was filled with love all around.
As I said, I live in Canada which is quite far from Southern California, so it was also great to finally meet the Director of Marketing of savormeditation, Amanda! I was so pumped to meet this beautiful rave babe, so of course, we had to snap a picture to save the memory! Check us out:
By Saturday, Imagine had five stages open and ready to rage: Oceania (the main stage), Disco Inferno, Amazonia, Six Feathers, and Techyes.
Each stage brought its own unique element to life. Although, I will admit the flaming art at Disco Inferno was by far one of my favorite aspects of the entire event, shooting rivers of fire into the sky from giant metal art structures.
The artists at IMF were truly outstanding. No matter which stage I was at, I felt a level of energy and hype flowing from the speakers and enchanting every twisting, turning and shuffling body in the crowd.
I have to give a special shoutout to Alison Wonderland, Zeds Dead and Marshmello. After my soul was brought to church by A.Wonderland, Zeds Dead followed her killer performance with another raging set. I danced my heart out in the grass field of the Oceania stage, living my best life as my gold skirt danced around my legs like diamonds in the water.

Marshmello closed the Oceania stage on Sunday night in the most memorable way possible. Now I don’t mean this lightly when I say his performance was one of (if not the) very best sets I’ve ever seen. The amount of energy pumping through the crowd could be felt for miles (or kilometers, if you’re Canadian like me). A sea of oversized glow sticks flooded through the hands of crowd, splashing rhythmic waves of color like a neon hurricane. Mixed with endless streams of lasers, fire and fireworks, the black Georgia sky was brought to life. Overlooking the crowd from the tops of bopping shoulders, I felt a true sense of happiness that can only be described with two words: truly magical. Just when I thought my heart couldn’t get any fuller, the words of the Beatles Imagine flooded my eardrums and tears welled up in my eyes. Pure happiness.
Of course, no mystic adventure would be complete without filling your stomach with tasty bites of heaven. The smell of delicious temptation twisted through Imagine’s main street with a glorious line of food trucks ready to make your tastebud’s wildest dreams come true. In my case, this meant taking down the most delicious basket of chicken strips I have ever tasted for three nights straight. No shame. Shout out to the food truck, Pie Daddy, for being my personal superheroes for the weekend and hooking me up with golden crunchy goodness.
On Sunday night, my Unity Travel shuttle bus pulled out of the event parking lot for the last time and I felt my wave of enchantment slowly transform into picture-perfect memories. I could still hear the explosion of Marshmello’s set mixed with the laughter of my festie-bestie dancing through my ears, and in that moment I couldn’t help but let a smile spread across my cheeks.
Imagine, you were one for the record books. I finally found what lies deep at the bottom of the ocean. What is it? You’ll just have to meet me at Imagine 2020 to find out. Check out the offical day 3 recap video here:

]]>Who is responsible for creating the inhabitants of this fantasy world? Who turns dancers and performers into pieces of human magic?
For the deep sea wonderland of Imagine Music Festival (IMF), one of those magicians is Colleen Naughton; the Director of Team EZ.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your background?
The first time I attended an event was when I was 17. I was so enamored by the whole experience that I started performing at the EDM nightclub and events with a small team in Seattle, Washington. As a result, I got the opportunity to audition for a well-known team out of Denver, Colorado—Team EZ. I was excited to make the cut and joined the team to perform all over the country at some of the biggest festivals in the world. I was thrilled and excited to be part of this team. More importantly, through my association with the team, I found an incredible mentor in Team EZ’s creator, Ms. Easy. She took me under her wing and encouraged me to take on more and more of a leadership role in the team. She taught me the ins and outs of festival performing including festival management and pushed me to learn how to design and create costumes. As fate would have it, she took over the Entertainment Department at Insomniac Event and handed Team EZ off to me. Without Ms Easy’s guidance and support, I would not be where I am today. I will be forever grateful that she saw something in me that I didn’t see necessarily see in myself at the time, and trust me to not only carry on her legacy but to make it my own. Team EZ has been my family for 10 years now and it will always be in my heart.

How long have you been a part of the performing/music festival industry?
I’ve been [a]part of this scene for about 16 years now.
How did you get involved working with Imagine Music Festival?
I was recommended by some of the existing IMF staff with whom I had worked for many years. They were familiar with my work and when an opportunity came up, they put my name forward.
What's it like being part of a nationally-recognized music festival?
Humbling. I am grateful every day for all the opportunities I've had to bring my team and my vision to events like IMF.
What aspects of dance and performer design are you most proud of with Imagine Music Festival?
Watching dancers/performers get on stage and do what they love in my costumes is a pretty amazing feeling. It makes all the long hours, frustrations, late nights, and yes, blood, sweat and tears, so worth it to see the performers and costumes come to life on stage. I'll never get sick of that feeling.
Where do you get your inspiration for costumes for Imagine Music Festival?
It always starts with the theme of the festival. I'm lucky enough to work with a team that trusts me to give me some basic ideas of what they would like to see, and then lets me run with it. I would say the thing that inspires me the most is spending time looking for just the right fabric, or the right materials. Once I see a fabric or a trim that catches my attention, the design quickly falls into place.
What do you think makes the performers and dancers at Imagine Music Festival unique from other festivals?
I think the commitment to the characters is what makes them unique. Performers are not just there to look pretty in a costume. They really throw themselves into their character. They give them life by giving their characters names and coming up with elaborate backstories so that when they're interacting with the guests, it’s a fully immersive experience.
Take me through a day in the life as a performer at Imagine. What is their routine from when they wake up to when their head hits the pillow?
Our days are really long. Performers usually show up 3-4 hours before doors open at an event, at which point they start the long process of getting into hair/makeup/costumes. Once everyone is fully in costume and ready to launch, they separate into their teams and hit the stage/grounds of the festival. Once they are on the clock, not only are they required to dance/perform on stage, they also spend hours on the grounds taking pictures and interacting with attendees while never breaking character, to create an immersive experience for them. Each team will perform [for] a total of about 8-10 hours per day, aside from lunch/dinner/rest breaks. Once the show is over, performers must turn in their costumes, take off their makeup, and head home for as much sleep as they can get before they wake up and do it all over again. I will always be so proud of how committed my performers are to creating special moments for the attendees, even when they're dealing with uncomfortable costumes and blistered feet, crazy weather, and long hours on very little sleep. Festival performers are the toughest in the business.
Can you tell me about the tryout process for the performers, please?
Because Team Ez is a national team with events all over the country, the best way to apply to be a part of it is to email me with your performer resume, up-to-date pictures of face and body, and a recent video of you performing.
Can you describe the sense of community between the dancers and performers?
Team Ez has been, and will always be a family. I’ve always wanted everyone involved with each show to feel that. It has always been a safe space for performers to come and work together to create our unique brand of magic, and because of that, the bonds that are created and the memories that are made, are unforgettable.
What has been the biggest struggle you’ve faced as a woman working in the festival industry?
It will always be a challenge to be a woman in a male-dominated industry and to feel like your voice is being heard and that you are getting the respect you deserve. Luckily, for the most part, I have been fortunate enough to work with some amazing men in the industry, that have always been open and welcoming of my contributions to these events.
What are you looking forward to most at IMF 2019?
My favorite part of any festival, and I’m sure will apply to IMF 2019, is working with a team that really is truly supportive [of] me and and celebrates my vision for the performers. [That’s] always such a positive experience for me and everyone in the cast.
Can you tell us any hints about what we can expect to see from dancers/performers?
This year the costume design is focused on the creatures that live in the deep, dark sea; so expect an edgier vibe for this year.
I am so excited to dive into this deep sea adventure, and I cannot wait to see all of the magic at Imagine come together this year! What lies deep at the bottom of the ocean? I’m not sure, but I can’t wait to find out. The countdown is on...see you in one week!
]]>Meet Madeleine (Maddy) Goodhand; a boss babe, industry influencer and the founder of Imagine Music Festival, along with her husband, Glenn Goodhand. I had the privilege to sit down with Maddy and discover what it means to be one of the masterminds behind the nationally-recognized wonderland.
]]>In short, Imagine Music Festival is a four-day aquatic adventure filled with circus acts, pool parties, transformative workshops, art, wellness classes, silent discos, field games, electrifying performances and more. If you’ve taken a look at this year’s lineup for Imagine Music Festival (IMF) in Atlanta, Georgia, you know this fest is jam-packed with talented female artists who are showing what it means to be a boss babe in the EDM world.
I’m stoked to see every single incredible woman on the lineup this year. However, there is one industry queen who is the sole reason why myself, every artist and the entire staff and fanbase will be diving deep into our underwater wonderland this September.

I had the privilege to sit down with Maddy and discover what it means to be one of the masterminds behind the nationally-recognized wonderland.
Originally from Finland, Goodhand is no stranger to adventure, growing up in Switzerland, Beijing, and Hong Kong.
“My family moved to the States to Atlanta in '99 when I was 12. I speak both Swedish and English,” says Goodhand.
While working in the nightclub scene, Maddy and Glenn decided they wanted to break through their current mold and create shows without any creative restrictions or barriers.
“We did not want to have any walls, we wanted a blank canvas that we could create the exact environment that we had envisioned,” says Goodhand. “We wanted to choose our staff and work with the best people in the industry. We wanted to radiate positive energy and spread light, and believed that by creating a good team and a group of individuals that believed in what we were doing we could create magic and a festival that felt different from the others.”
That’s when the aquatic fairytale was born.

Imagine began as a two-day festival in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia. Goodhand shares that starting an electric wonderland didn’t come without its fair share of challenges, one of which included losing the fest’s original venue.
“[The biggest challenge was] being able to fit our big dreams into our small budget,” she explains. “Also, that first year we lost our venue four months before the event. It ended up being a blessing because we ended up at the Historic Fourth Ward Park in downtown Atlanta, which was absolutely beautiful.”
Imagine quickly began to explode in popularity, and after its second year, the fest had already outgrown its first home.
“We didn't want to move, but if we had to, we wanted to choose the biggest place we could find so we had infinite room to grow. Going to Atlanta Motor Speedway and adding camping AND a third day all in the same year made a statement to the world the type of festival we wanted to become,” states Goodhand. “It was a huge undertaking at the time, and was very challenging, but I'm glad we took the leap and pulled it off.”
Image Courtesy of Imagine Music Festival + Facebook
The festival is independently operated by the Goodhands, with help from their hand-selected team members rallying beside them.
Maddy says that herself, Glenn, and the rest of the Imagine team have spent each year improving the festival’s production, making it more and more memorable for guests.
“We keep a close ear to the ground and are always asking our guests and friends in the community how we can improve...This constant tweaking and paying attention to what our guests want, we feel, has led us to experience such rapid growth,” states Goodhand.
This year, the festival is expected to be the most mystical adventure yet, with new themes and experiences to elevate the underwater world to the next level.
“This year we have introduced the theme “What Lies Deep at the Bottom of the Ocean” inspired by Seven Lions track, "Ocean." Our stage designs and festival decor are playing off the theme which is super cool,” shares Goodhand. “We have also switched up the layout and are adding some fun new areas with different fun things like pop up performances, vendors, themed bars, and games. We are also working closely with the artists to develop some really neat Meet & Greet opportunities and new VIP experiences.”
Goodhand adds that while it hasn’t always been easy to earn respect as a young woman in what she describes as, “a man’s world,” she is using her platform as a successful woman in the industry to boost her fellow females.
“When I have the opportunity to talk to our entire staff and inspire other young women to be in a leadership position, it’s very rewarding as I feel I have broken through the struggle,” she says.
In addition to promoting strong female staff, Goodhand is showcasing the fierce female talent in the industry through this year’s stellar lineup.
“The lineup is awesome, [I] can't wait to see our stacked female lineup with Rezz, Alison Wonderland, Leah Culver, Anna Lunoe, Nora En Pure,” shares Goodhand. “And of course I'm excited for Diplo and Tipper.”
(If you haven’t had a chance to read all about how Leah Culver plans to bring the house down this year at IMF, you can do so here).
Goodhand says that she is thrilled to see the fest come together this year, and describes the entire experience as “humbling and exciting.”
“I feel like I'm watching this magical moment in the universe - to see a vision come to life and so many smiling faces and guests having the time of their [lives],” she explains. “I'm proud of us [for] being a homegrown, independent festival and being compared to the biggest festivals in the world. Personally, I'm proud of overcoming many challenges and being able to grow from those experiences. I think its a mutual pride we share with our whole community.”

Goodhand adds that she sees no limitations to what Imagine may become in the future.
“We are still in our early stages, so the possibilities are really endless for where we can go and the type of festival we will become,” she states.

Within the first 0.5 seconds of researching Imagine, I had already fallen in love with the fest and decided I needed to experience the Imaginarium more than I needed oxygen (September 20th, 2019 can’t come fast enough)! If there’s one person who I know will bring powerplant-level energy to the fest, it’s Leah Culver.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Leah and picking her brain about her career, her performance at Imagine, and what it takes to be a boss babe in the EDM industry.
]]>Imagine in itself is an absolutely killer fest, filled with soul-rejuvenating workshops, mind-blowing experiences, good vibes and of course, performances that will make you move like magic is running through your veins.
In addition to their mystic aquatic-themed fairytale, they are huge supporters of some of the industry’s most badass females. (Fun Fact: Imagine was founded by a queen herself! Keep your eyes peeled on our blog for more…)
Within the first 0.5 seconds of researching Imagine, I had already fallen in love with the fest and decided I needed to experience the Imaginarium more than I needed oxygen (September 20th, 2019 can’t come fast enough)! However, when I saw all the unreal female talent featured in the lineup, I could tell this fest was going to be truly special.
If there’s one person who I know will bring powerplant-level energy to the fest, it’s Leah Culver.
Taking place in Atlanta, Imagine has welcomed the city’s hometown-hero back to perform for multiple years in a row. Culver has been known to bring the underwater-house down and says her connection to the festival dives deep in the depths of her heart.
“It’s been an absolute honor for me to be asked back each year, and a privilege to do it again this time,” says Culver. “It’s also very cool to see the festival grow. Imagine is very close to my heart and their success brings me so much joy.”
Culver is an artist through and through, practicing and understanding the various sides of her craft. She is a producer, writer, singer, DJ and musician, most commonly known for her electro/hardstyle sound and electrifying performances.
While Culver’s professional career began as a DJ in 2011, she says music has been a part of her identity for as long as she can remember.
“I’ve been singing and making up songs my entire life, since I was five years old,” shares Culver. “Later picking up guitar, drums and producing as well. [Producing music] is what I love to do the most, I’m so grateful.”
Image Courtesy of Leah Culver's Facebook
Culver has been exploding in the EDM scene, gaining support from major artists such as Marshmello, Adventure Club, The Chainsmokers, Steve Aoki, Benny Benassi, Laidback Luke, Candyland, Big KRIT, Trinidad James, Breathe Carolina, The Glitch Mob, Firebeatz, Alvin Risk, Autoerotique, Dotcom, Marty Party, Figure, Cash Cash, Porter Robinson, Terravita, 3lau, Zomboy, Excision, Knife Party, Baggi Begovic, Seven Lions, Griz, Dada Life and Paris & Simo, just to name a few.
While Culver is an electric force to be reckoned with, her success as a female artist hasn’t come without a fight.
“I’ve experienced people who doubt women as producers,” explains Culver. “It’s a really silly assumption across the board that women can’t engineer or produce music, because not only am I an engineer and a producer, but I have learned so much from working with other producers...”
Image Courtesy of Leah Culver's Facebook
Culver says she also attributes much of her knowledge and growth as a producer and engineer from Icon Collective - the production school that launched talents such as Jauz, Nghtmre, Slander and Yultron.
“To discredit me...you’d have to also discredit them,” she adds.
Culver boldy responds to sexist skepticism through her undeniable talent, success and support for fellow females.
“It’s so cool working with other women in the industry. I am constantly surrounded by talented and powerful women in the industry and I couldn't be more grateful to see us all thriving,” she shares.
Culver states that some of her biggest industry influences are Paramore’s powerhouse lead singer, Hayley Williams, pop-princess Ariana Grande and music icon, Joan Jett.
The boss-babe continues to break any barrier that stands in her path, challenging musical norms and destroying gendered stigmatizations.
Image Courtesy of Leah Culver's Facebook
She adds that her dedication and strong belief of self is something she’s carried with her throughout her entire life, stating that she believed she would achieve her goals as an artist ever since she was a child.
“To be honest, I never really doubted myself because I’ve always known this is what I wanted to do,” says Culver. “I believe if you want something bad enough you can obtain it with hard work and passion.”
Culver is one act not to miss at Imagine this year. Her killer beats mixed with her genuine love for her work, fans and the fest are sure to bring an insane amount of energy to the crowd.
“The thing I like best about performing [at Imagine] is looking out there and seeing ten-times the number of people from where we started...being able to bring my music to that many music lovers in incredible,” shares Culver. “[It’s] something I won’t ever take for granted because ultimately I was to touch people in a positive way.”
I am completely stoked to dive into the mythical beats and an enchanting underwater world at Imagine this year. Sharing my excitement, Culver adds, “...having the theme be the Underwater Mystical Aquatic World is really cool because I haven’t seen that done before. They nail it every year.”
I will be jamming out to all things Leah Culver from now until IMF (and admittedly, long after the fest is over).
Right now, I am vibing extra hard to her banging singles Fly with Marshmello, and Get Going.
You can rock to both songs here:

]]>I had an unreal time at BOMFEST this year. I’m beyond happy that I got to celebrate my home country with such an amazing crowd, and do it all at such a hype festival. While there were a ton of reasons why I loved the fest, I’ve narrowed it down to my top five list of best BOMFEST moments. (Afterall we can’t be here all day, my double-double from Tim Hortons will get cold).
]]>If you didn’t know this fun fact about us Canadians, we like to party...HARD! The Edmonton crowd this weekend had no shortage of insane energy and PLUR party vibes. From entry on night one to the final farewell on night three, the fest energy was enough to burst open our maple syrup trees and blow the roof off our igloos. (Oh yeah, buckle up for plenty of typical Canadian stereotypes and jokes in this one).
In all seriousness, I had an unreal time at BOMFEST this year.
The artists at BOMFEST this year absolutely killed it. I was especially stoked to see Seven Lions and Zhu, and they, along with many other artists, nailed it! There was a minor heart attack from the crowd as thunder and lightning threatened Zhu’s set on Friday. However, huge shoutout to Zhu and the production team for coming clutch and getting the show back on the road once it was safe to do so. I’m convinced Zhu bottled the electricity from the lightning and poured it into his set, because he brought a complete fire storm of insane beats and energy. I also really loved sets from RL Grime, Gryffin, Adventure Club and, of course, the man himself Tiësto, as he brought the fest to an epic close on night three.

2. The Can’t-Stop-Us Crowd
When I say nothing could stop this crowd, I truly mean the BOMFEST party-train stopped for no one - not even Mother Nature. BOMSQUAD, you guys killed it. Throughout the weekend there were bouts of pouring rain, thunder and lightning and even hail at one point. Did that stop this crowd from going HAM? HELL NO. When rain clouds threatened our good time, the crowd unzipped their fanny packs, whipped out their rain ponchos and partied on. Even when fans had to take shelter indoors, they were ready to rumble as soon as major storms had passed and were right back out on the dance floor. Trust me when I say the Edmonton rave scene is filled with some h-core troopers. Shout out to every single one of you bad babes. I was also in love with everyone’s outfits! There was a ton of rave babes slaying in neon yellow/green fits, and since I was rocking my Get Freaky Neon Bustier Top, I was completely feeling the electric vibe.

3. The Energy
This one is a joint effort from the can’t-stop-us crowd, the lineup, and Boodang’s production. The energy from BOMFEST - especially on night three - could have moved the Rocky Mountains. The vibes were completely insane. The artists were filling the air with dope tracks, the crowd was jumping, head banging and shuffling their hearts out to the music-magic, and the crew was going above and beyond to make sure everyone had a rad time. Together, it created the perfect storm of festival hype, and it made the entire experience one that I would never forget.

4. My savormeditation Instagram and Snapchat Takeovers
On Friday and Saturday night, I took over the savormeditation Snapchat (Friday) and Instagram (Saturday) to share the party with all you rave babes from around the globe. (Thank you so much to everyone who watched!) I had an absolute blast documenting the good times and good vibes, and I am so thrilled that I was able to share the fest with everyone who could only attend in spirit. One of my favorite parts of the takeover was receiving messages from some lovely souls when they recognized someone they knew, or sharing how much they loved seeing an artist that was playing. It made me feel like we were able to connect with the rave community far past any geographical limitations and reminded me just how unifying EDM truly is.

5. Boodang’s Magic
As per usual, I was extremely impressed with Boodang’s production magic. Every Boodang event is epic, and BOMFEST 2019 was definitely no exception. From the nom-train of food trucks, the glowing seats in the chill zone, the crew’s dedication and all the stage magic, Boodang pulled off a Canada Day party for the books. I also really appreciated the fact that the pick-up process for my wristband was incredibly easy, and the security and ID lines flowed really quickly. From start to finish, Boodang was completely on point.
Awesome seating in the chill zone!
Words can’t describe this weekend. But to summarize, I had a killer time at BOMFEST this year. I felt confident as heck in my savormeditation outfits (just a little added win), and I had such a blast dancing, jamming, singing and vibing with my squad.
Perfect way to celebrate Canada (sans moose) = BOMFEST 2019.
]]>
If you haven’t already, you can check out everything you need to know to prep for the fest here.
I am completely psyched to headbang for my home country (patriotism at its finest), and I can’t wait to celebrate with Edmonton's amazing rave community. If there’s one thing this city knows how to do, it’s party. Mixed with Boodang’s stellar production quality and the unreal lineup, this is going to be a Canada Day long weekend for the books.
This year’s lineup is absolutely killer. If I’m being honest, I will probably be Usain Bolt-ing between stages to try to catch as many sets as humanly possible (yes, the lineup is seriously that good).
If you aren’t planning to become an Olympic runner for the fest (completely understandable), here’s my top five list of sets you should be sure to check out:
Tiësto
An icon in the EDM world, Tiësto is one artist I will always be sure to catch. I saw Tiësto for the first time at Chasing Summer in 2017, and I was completely blown away. The energy he brought to the crowd was nothing short of electric. His mix created the perfect hyped-up vibe, and his raw talent and loaded experience couldn’t have been more apparent. In short, Tiësto is a staple in the music world for a reason, and if you aren’t sure why I promise you will know by the end of his set.
Seven Lions
Full disclosure, I physically screamed when I saw Seven Lions on the lineup for BOMFEST. I have been such a huge fan of his for years, and the countless times I have had my friends tell me how amazing his sets are has been giving me some serious FOMO. What I love about his sound is that he has no problem breaking from traditional conventions and testing the boundaries of his creativity. His diverse music style combines sub-genres such as trance, melodic dubstep, electro-house, drum and bass, and glitch hop, and I know his live performance will be nothing short of exceptional.
Zhu
I cannot put into words how stoked I am to see Zhu perform. He has been on my top list of need-to-see artists for years, and while it is heartbreaking that Martin Garrix can no longer attend BOMFEST, the event couldn’t have found a more amazing replacement. I originally fell in love with Zhu’s unique sound after hearing his EP, THE NIGHTDAY, with Faded still being one of my all-time favorite songs. I have heard nothing but amazing things about Zhu’s performances, so I have no doubt his set will be a huge highlight of the fest.
Adventure Club
I love this duo. Adventure Club makes the kind of music that takes over every inch of your body and makes you dance your heart out, at least that’s the case for me. I vibe so hard with their sound and energy, so I can’t wait to have my soul and body overflow with their beats. Also known for putting on unbelievable sets, I know there is going to be electrifying energy during their performance. Adventure Club also happens to be Canadian, which definitely counts for a few extra style points when partying on the Canada Day long weekend.
Bear Grillz
For all of my ragers out there, you need to catch this Bear Grillz set. We are going to be headbanging, neck breaking and raging harder than you ever thought possible. For everyone who wants to unleash their inner animal and go hard from start to finish, Bear Grillz is your party master. I know the intense energy and rage is going to be flooding through the fest during this performance, and I’m pumped to feel the entire crowd go buck wild.
In addition to the amazing list of headliners, I am stoked to check out the lineup of local artists that will be performing at BOMFEST. It’s rad AF that the fest is giving local talent a platform to showcase their beats, and I have no doubt in my mind I will be discovering a few new favorites.
Tickets are going fast, so if you haven’t already, be sure to grab yours ASAP. You can do so here.
Stay in the loop with the fest and join in on the countdown by following them on Instagram. See you there.
This will be my first time raging with the BOMFEST crowd, and I am stoked out of my mind to see everything this fest has to offer. Between the killer lineup, the wild Edmonton crowd and the production team behind Boodang, this is where every raver needs to be for Canada’s birthday-bash weekend. Last year the event was held in September, so I feel like the added summer vibes mixed with the Canada Day weekend will bring incredible energy to the fest this year.
I had some serious FOMO when I missed out on the event last summer, so this year I am going twice as hard. I want anyone and everyone who likes having a good time to buy your tickets ASAP so we can party together, and make enviously watching Insta stories a thing of the past.
Here’s a rundown of everything to expect:

The lineup:
BOMFEST has an insane lineup this year. There is such a dope variety of sub-genres within the headliners, so there will definitely be something for everyone to vibe with. I really appreciate when a fest throws a variety of artists into the mix. I can’t tell you the number of times of fallen in love with an artist solely because of their live set, so it’s rad to see BOMFEST giving fans the opportunity to connect with a variety of music on this level. I am psyched to see Seven Lions. I have been a Seven Lions fan for ages, so when I saw his name on the lineup I completely freaked. I’ve heard he puts on an amazing set, and I have no doubt it will be well worth the anticipated wait. To be real, every artist on this list looks like a certifiable good time. Personally, the rest of my must-see list includes 1788-L, Adventure Club, ALPHA 9, Bear Grillz, Boombox Cartel, Duke Dumont, Gryffin, Martin Garrix, RL Grime, Tiësto, and TOKiMONSTA. (I told you, it’s one hell of a lineup). Check out the full list of headliners here.
One thing that really impressed me about BOMFEST was not just their headliners, but their list of local artists. Far too often I see a major lack of support for local talent at major events, so to see a fest such as BOMFEST include not just one, not two, but an entire lineup of Local Bom Heroes was really intriguing to me. I am all about supporting local, so I can’t wait to check out all the great talent that’s booming inside this city. Check out the full list of Local Bom Heroes here.

The Venue
To me, summer means outdoor festivals, so I’m pumped that BOMFEST will be spent under the sun instead of under a roof. The fest will be held at the Edmonton Expo Grounds, which is the perfect location for an outdoor event in this city. With 522,000 square feet of space, there will be plenty of room to shuffle and headbang our hearts out.
Photo Provided by Boodang
The city’s LRT (Light Rail Transit) line goes right up to the grounds, so it’s perfect for anyone looking to take a quick and easy public transit ride to the event. If you are looking to drive, paid parking is also available on site.
The Edmonton Expo Centre is an indoor facility that is also located on the festival grounds, so if whatever reason you need to spend some time indoors (washroom breaks, cool down, warm up, whatever) you’ll be covered.
If you’re directionally-challenged like me, BOMFEST has provided this handy little map to help you out:
Boodang
If you know me, you know I’m a huge fan of Boodang productions. They are a complete powerhouse when it comes to entertainment events in Western Canada, and they laid the foundation for this city’s EDM community in 2001 by working with the city of Edmonton to throw the first dance music event supported by a new city bylaw. On top of all that, they know how to throw a wicked party. Boodang’s headliners are always bangin’, their sound quality is spot on, and the entire production from start to finish is always rage-worthy. To put it short, it’s a guaranteed good time.

A Few Need to Knows:
-A site map will be released shortly, so keep your eyes peeled on the BOMFEST site for upcoming info. The door times for the event are as follows:
Friday 4:00pm-11:00pm (BOODANG STAGE ONLY)
Saturday 2:00pm-11:30pm (ALL STAGES)
Sunday 2:00pm-11:30pm (ALL STAGES)
-BOMFEST is an 18+ event, so make sure you bring a piece of valid, government issued photo ID to get in.
-Rain or shine, we rage. If you’re from Alberta, you know our weather can be unpredictable as hell, but thankfully for us BOMFEST is prepared for whatever comes our way. (Extra points for being ready AF). Like I mentioned above, the Edmonton Expo Centre is an indoor facility that is located on the grounds. So, if rain clouds decide to join the party, there will be plenty of space for you to dry off and warm up inside.
-When the party's over, it isn’t really over. There will be some BOM afterparties to look forward to after the event, so keep checking the BOMFEST site for upcoming details.
-Tickets are going hella fast, so if you haven’t already, make sure you buy yours ASAP.
-For a full list of FAQ’s, the prohibited items list, ticket info and complete event details, visit bomfest.ca

I’ve noticed BOMFEST has been offering a TON of amazing contests leading up to the event (I’m talking a meet and greet with Adventure Club and a chance to meet Tiësto). So, you absolutely need to make sure you’re following them on Instagram to avoid missing out.
I also recommend following Boodang on their social platforms as well, to stay in the loop with upcoming fests and shows. You can follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
I’m pumped for this event, and I can’t wait to go HAM with all of the amazing Edmontonian fest goers. Which set are you most looking forward to seeing? Comment below!
]]>I remember how shocked I was to discover that Rezz, a woman, was making heavier, darker music in a predominantly male-dominated industry. The sinking realization soon followed - if I, as a woman, was surprised by another woman’s success, how prevalent was sexism in the EDM community as a whole?
Women such as Wenzday, Festfashions, Tasha Tripp and Claudia Pena are all a part of a movement focused around fighting sexism and shaping the EDM industry into what its meant to be- a community of love, equality and acceptance for all.
]]>I was listening to a stream from an EDC Las Vegas set when I heard a killer mix from an artist I had never heard before - an artist named REZZ. I instantly fell in love with the dark, unique beats flowing through my eardrums.
“Wow, this REZZ guy is really good!” I told my friends.
“REZZ is a girl,” one of my friends responded.
“Wow, really?” I said. “That’s so crazy.”
From that moment on, my outlook of women in the EDM industry changed completely.
I remember how shocked I was to discover that a woman was making heavier, darker music in a predominantly male-dominated industry.
The sinking realization soon followed - if I, as a woman, was surprised by another woman’s success, how prevalent was sexism in the EDM community as a whole?
REZZ has since become one of my all-time favorite artists, and as my love for EDM grew I began to discover other successful women in the industry who are fighting everyday for the recognition they deserve.
I had the privilege of sitting down with four women who all are working to fight stereotypes and sexism in the EDM community through their individual talents.
Of those women, I discovered the wicked sound of music producer and DJ, Wenzday.
Photo Credits: Emma Paige; Photo Provided by Wenzday
Producing music since 2014, Wenzday has been using her no-sleep work ethic and raw talent to fight for her success in the industry. In addition to being a producer and DJ, she is also a classically-trained vocalist, and co-founder of the record label and clothing brand, 40oz Cult with her brother, Dack Janiels.
Wenzday has since gone on to be the youngest person to DJ at the iconic Playboy Mansion, and her co-founded brand, 40oz Cult, has had takeovers in five cities across the United States. She has also released numerous acclaimed singles, -including her newest EP, Heartbreak House, with Insomniac Records imprint, In/Rotation- and played at the renowned mainstage at Beyond Wonderland this past March.
“I played an art car last year [at Beyond Wonderland], so moving up to the main stage was a dream come true. This year was especially special to me because there were so many up-and-coming women on the lineup as well,” says Wenzday.
Beyond Wonderland is a two-day electronic music festival held in San Bernardino, CA. With over 60 acts performing, it is estimated that over 70,000 fans attended the event this past year.
Despite her success, Wenzday is still forced to prove herself as a woman in the industry.
Wenzday (Photo Credits: Emma Paige; Photo Provided by Wenzday)
“I’ve experienced sexism from both men and women,” Wenzday says. “When I first started releasing music and playing under my Wenzday moniker, I would get messages like ‘you didn’t make this’ or ‘your set was pre-recorded.’”
Wenzday says her response to sexism and hate is to keep her head down and focus on her craft, and that choosing her stage name was a direct statement on becoming a successful woman in a predominantly male industry.
“I wanted a name that was synonymous with a strong female,” says Wenzday. “Wednesday Addams has always been my favorite character because of her boss attitude and outlook.”
However, Wenzday’s empowering mindset doesn’t come without sexist remarks and skepticism.
“I think that my biggest obstacle has been convincing people that I do everything (make music and play shows) on my own,” Wenzday states. “There is still a stigma among fans and fellow producers that when a female in the industry is successful, it is because someone else is doing it for her.”
The fight for female recognition in the industry is not exclusively fought by women alone, as Wenzday says her battle is accompanied by the support of male allies.
“I have had an insane amount of support throughout my career from men in the scene -like my brother- who push me to just focus on myself and not worry about the opinions of other people,” Wenzday adds.
Letting her craft speak for itself, Wenzday continues to push herself everyday to make her mark on the industry.
“I just plan on letting my music and performances speak for themselves,” she says. “I love what I do and cannot imagine doing anything else.”
Wenzday (Photo Credits: Emma Paige; Photo Provided by Wenzday)
Wenzday adds that while sexism may be prevalent within the industry, she believes that the key to reaching true success –both as individuals and women as a whole—is hard work, dedication and female-to-female support.
“Don’t give anyone a reason to doubt you. If you believe in yourself and your project, then that is all that matters,” Wenzday shares. “Women need to support other women! It can be as small as liking and commenting [on] a fellow girl’s Instagram post, or taking the time to listen to...a new female artist you just discovered. I feel like camaraderie is so important nowadays, especially in the EDM space.”
Wenzday also shares that it is her hope to inspire other women to continue to be creative and produce the work they’re passionate about.
“My inbox is always open to anyone who wants to send me new music or has any questions. You can find me @WenzdayMusic on all socials,” Wenzday adds. “Make sure to check out my new EP
“Heartbreak House” out now on In/Rotation Records!”
Female music producers are not the only women fighting for their success in the industry.
Lexi, who goes by the brand name FestFashions, is the owner, photographer and blogger of her festival-fashion brand. For the past five years, FestFashions has been capturing, blogging and posting trending styles in festival fashion.
FestFashions (Photo Credits: Girlsgonerave; Photo Provided by FestFashions)
While FestFashions says that she is, “proud that 75 percent of my followers are female,” judgment and sexism are still apparent within the industry, particularly with people’s fashion choices.
“That’s a reality I’m trying to fight,” says FestFashions. “I’m trying to build a world where we celebrate men, women and everyone else without sexualizing them. They can be wearing the smallest pasties or a full coat, it shouldn’t matter. It should be about the person, [and] their self-expression, not the sexualization of their body.”
Like Wenzday, FestFashions is letting her craft speak for itself as she grows in her success and cultivates a welcoming community for all.
“I’m trying to show people how beautiful they can be…,” FestFashions states. “I also do very little editing to my photos. I want anyone I photograph to feel comfortable and see how amazing they look without touch ups – my photos are very real, and very relatable.”
FestFashions also shares that while it might be tough for women in the industry, it’s important to never stop believing in your abilities.
“You’re just as good as anyone else, so put yourself out there and success will come to you,” she says.
Boss babes such as industry hair stylist, Tasha Tripp, and Lunautics brand owner, Claudia Pena, also share that the key to finding success and terminating sexism is to keep fighting, and to stand together.
“Follow your dreams and don't let anyone take them away from you,” says Tripp, who has been a hair artist for the past five years. “Fight for what you believe in, stand up for what's right, and push through the barriers that you've not only set for yourself, [but] perhaps that others have set for you. You are in control of your success and [while] others may try to stop you, be strong and prevail. We have to stand together!”

Tripp also adds that while the road to success may be filled with barriers, it’s important to keep persevering.
“Sometimes when everything seems like it's falling apart, it's only because it's the building blocks to what's coming,” she adds.
Starting off as a festival photographer, Pena has been a creative force since she first stepped into the festival world, and has faced sexism by those threatened by her capabilities.
“I once had a male tell me in an interview that they were afraid I would be too powerful and they would be left out of important decisions if I was hired,” says Pena. “Nothing has fueled me more than that, because even though I didn’t get the job they unknowingly told me I had the power and I haven’t forgotten ever since.”
Pena has since gone on to start the Instagram page, Raveselfies, and become the founder, CEO and ground control of Lunautics - a cruelty free, vegan festival cosmetics brand.

“Don’t be afraid of your own success, and don’t limit yourself. If you smashed one goal, then make an even bigger one. Don’t dumb yourself down or limit your accomplishments to make someone else comfortable,” she shares. “Same goes for your friends - don’t be afraid of their success either. Celebrate it, because if it’s not your win this time around, it might just be the next time.”
Claudia Pena
Pena credits her success to the help and encouragement of other women in the festival industry, stating how important she believes it is for women to help other women reach their goals.
“It is so important for women and girls to lift each other up. Helping another person achieve their goals will always positively impact you, and you never know, that power can come back tenfold when you least expect it and benefit you immensely, like it has for me,” adds Pena.
Women such as Wenzday, Festfashions, Tripp and Pena are all a part of a movement focused around shaping the EDM industry into what its meant to be- a community of love, equality and acceptance for all.
Other female music producers such as REZZ, Alison Wonderland and WHIPPED CREAM are also a part of the same movement, fighting sexism with their craft and their success.
There are so many amazing women in the EDM industry, proving time and time again that your gender does not define your success. The women of EDM are creating, inspiring, diversifying and shaping the industry in so many unique ways, and they deserve recognition for their hard-earned success.
As fans, it’s important for us to appreciate and support the killer work all of these women are creating, and stop ourselves and others from making comments around their gender. Afterall, sexism is not PLUR.

]]>What’s even more special about the hypnotic wubs and dubs is that age holds no immunity to its spell.
Whether you’re five or 95, the power of EDM holds no boundaries to its listeners, and is as timeless as it is captivating.
The fanbase of electronic music is truly ageless, and its ability to pull fans together from all stages of life is part of what makes our community so vibrant and beautiful.
A common misconception I hear about EDM is that it’s a genre that can only be enjoyed by young adults. I’ve heard everything from it’s not appropriate for children to it doesn’t resonate with older crowds. I’ve made friends of all ages since becoming a part of the electronic music community, and it’s become increasingly clear to me that EDM is truly ageless. So, I sat down with a few fans (and new friends of mine) of all ages to gain their perspective on EDM and how it has impacted their life.
“[I] listened to Daft Punk when I was six and [I’m] still listening to EDM now. EDM is an ever transforming genre, so the ability to appeal to all ages is strong,” says EDM fan, Hatim Hafid.
Electronic music lover, Dennis Little, has been an avid fan since the 80s. Now at the age of 53, Little continues to attend and enjoy as many EDM shows as possible.
“I can say for certain that the community has accepted me very well. In particular, the Cult of Rezz, but I have a couple friends outside of the Cult as well,” Little says. “I think the community in general has very happily accepted that music has no age.”
The Cult of Rezz is a fanbase for electronic music producer, REZZ, that prides themselves on welcoming all members with open arms.
Little is an active member of the EDM community, and engages with the scene by making and trading kandi, interacting with the local scene online and volunteering with harm reduction teams.
“The more involved I get in the community, the more I feel like I am accepted as a music fan,” he says. “The acceptance and the non-judgemental attitude almost everyone has makes my age just go away.”
Photo Provided by Dennis Little
Little encourages fans of all ages to enjoy festivals, and states that while, “The crowds at shows are pretty accepting,” not everyone understands that being PLUR means understanding that music has no boundaries.
“Once in a while I get some unusual looks, but I feel like it may just be because I am not your average raver! My advice? Go, have fun. Enjoy the music!” Little adds.
Like Little, Shelby Heaton believes that the agelessness of EDM doesn’t just stem from the crowds, but from the music itself.
“Some of the best artists in the business are over 50 and still making music,” Heaton says. “One of the things that I appreciate about the EDM scene is that it is so diverse (people and music wise) and it allows for the older generations to continue to be involved in the scene. Additionally, I love seeing parents bring their children to shows and introduce them to electronic music. As long as you're responsible, they are never too young.”
Listeners like Amy Gee, who is the proud parent of five-year-old EDM fan, Lee, agree that you are never too young to enjoy the music you love.
Gee writes on the Cult of REZZ Facebook page:
“[Lee] sort of grew up with EDM, especially ODESZA,” Gee says. “It’s the main genre of music I listen to. He actually sings all the words to Falls by ODESZA. He’s gotten into Bassnectar, REZZ and Boombox Cartel with me lately. He likes the drums and bass, and of course, the drop.”
Whether you’re a trance lover, hard style fanatic, bass head or anything in-between, the consensus among electronic-lovers is that there are no restrictions to who can appreciate and enjoy EDM.
“I think that electronic music is absolutely timeless,” Gee adds.
In a world structured around so many societal confinements, electronic music provides a magical escape without judgment or limitations. The only requirements for joining the EDM community are good vibes, PLUR and a love for the music.

If there’s one thing that gets me hyped while getting ready for a rave, it’s putting together a killer rave outfit. Festival fashion is a huge reason why I was so drawn to raves in the first place.

]]>All right my Canadian ravers, it’s time to buckle your seatbelts because this summer we’re jumping past the bad vibe villains and anti-PLUR plot and skipping right to our happily ever after. That’s right, we’re headed straight for Ever After Music Festival. (Hell = yeah).
Ready to embark on our epic summer quest? Here’s everything you need to know before setting off.
]]>Ever After is a magical three-day event that transforms Kitchener, Ontario into a euphoric fairytale of bass and good energy. The fifth annual fest takes place this year from June 7-June 9th, 2019, providing a full weekend of magic. Ready to embark on our epic summer quest? Here’s everything you need to know before setting off:

The Lineup
If you’re ready to be entranced in a spell of epic beats, then your chariot (or shuttle bus) awaits. Ever After has a stacked lineup this year, mixing in a dynamic variety of artists with a heavy emphasis on bass. No matter your flavor, you’ll find the perfect musical escape to feed your soul. Personally, I’m beyond stoked to see Chris Lake’s name on the lineup list. I saw one of his sets last year and it was one of the best times I’ve ever had at a show. His dope beats and incredible energy had the whole crowd vibing, so I’m pumped to catch another one of his performances. Headliners, Kill the Snails (Kill the Noise with back-to-back Snails) are also on my radar for a must-see set, along with Excision (meet me at the rail, we’ll headbang our hearts out) and Illenium (get ready to dive into a pool of all the feels). I’m also really looking forward to catching Feed Me, Malaa and Zomboy. All around, this lineup is killer.

The Accommodations
One major bonus of Ever After fest is the wide variety of accommodations. The fest has partnered with Unity Travel to provide its Adventurers with a wide variety of accommodation options and travel packages, all rolled up in one quick and easy layout. (Because who likes when things are more difficult than they need to be)? Whether you’re a wilderness-loving camper or prefer the comfort of a hotel, there’s options available for everyone’s comfort level.

Ever After has elevated their camping game this year. The fest offers options for every style of camper, from traditional tent camping and CUBE hassle-free tent rentals (with furniture, bedding and floor plan options), to more luxurious camping styles such as cabins, containers and RV lots. Personally, I think the container camping option sounds wicked, and is definitely a must-try. Campsites are offered both on and off-site, all within walking distance of the festival gates. Ready to join over 3000 Adventurers in the camping gang? Click here to check out available camping packages.
Bonus: This year, all campers have the option of camping on Thursday night for FREE. (Who doesn’t love free)?
For my hotel-goers:
Outdoor living not really your style? No worries, Ever After offers some awesome hotel packages. I’m particularly pumped about the hotel takeover options. There’s nothing more fun than getting hyped and vibing with fellow festies, so having a new squad of Adventures all in the same hotel sounds like the perfect party warm-up. Worried about travelling from the hotel to the fest and back? Don’t be, Ever After has shuttle options running daily. Grab your hotel room, shuttle passes and festival tickets all in one place (like I said, quick and easy).
Travelling solo to the event this year? Check out the Solo Traveller Program along with other hotel packages here.
Bonus: All travel package holders who purchase both a hotel or shuttle pass will receive an expedited entry into the event. Win.

What’s a mystical adventure without a splash of magic (AKA water) to help you cool off? To me, the perfect summer experience isn’t complete without a dip in some sparkling waves, so I’m really looking forward to diving into Splash Island. The fest’s waterpark features a wave pool and various water slides, so you can slip and slide in between sets. Open to all adventurers until 8pm every night.

I think I may have just discovered Wonderland, and it’s located right inside the festival. Filled with carnival rides, themed activities and games, Mad Hatters Playhouse looks like my exact cup of tea (full pun intended). I’m a huge sucker for carnivals and amusement parks, so my inner child is ready to rage. Mad Hatters Playhouse is definitely the cherry on top for this fest.

Keepsakes and mementos are a huge must for me, especially when remembering something as close to my heart as a festival. Vendor village is filled with a beautiful collection of vendor tents and food options, making it a definite must-visit during this event.

]]>Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that earplugs do not prevent you from hearing the music. I wear them to every music event I attend, and I can still hear every wub, dub and drop perfectly, and yes, still loudly!
While it depends on the type, a lot of ear plugs simply filter out the excessively loud sounds while still allowing you to enjoy the sound at a safe level. In a lot of cases, the music doesn’t sound muffled or distorted. Here’s a review of several different earplugs I’ve had experience with.
]]>But in all seriousness, I think a lot of us take our hearing for granted. I know I sure did for a long time. I think a lot of us assume that just because we don’t have any hearing issues now, we don’t need to worry about the unglamorous sides of raving, such as protecting our ears. Well, my fellow music lovers, I’m here to tell you that this couldn’t be further from the truth.
If I’m being honest here, I didn’t always take ear protection at festivals seriously. In fact, it wasn’t something that crossed my mind until I met my boyfriend, Jake. (If you haven’t already, you can check out this article for a back story on his condition).
While Jake’s condition wasn’t caused by improper ear care at music events - in fact, he actually wore earplugs even before his condition - tinnitus and hearing loss are very real, very common symptoms that result from ear damage caused by loud music.
Long exposure to sounds over 85 decibels can cause permanent hearing loss. Most festivals range between 95-110 decibels. Not-so-fun fact: that ringing you hear after a festival or concert is the sound of damage being caused to the tiny hairs in your ears. Long story short, hearing protection at shows is super important.
Now, I know you’re probably thinking, “but I won’t be able to hear the music as well if I have earplugs in! I don’t want to kill my experience :(.”
Don’t worry! This is actually a huge misconception, and I’m here to debunk it :) Hooray!
Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you that earplugs do not prevent you from hearing the music.
Here’s a review of several different earplugs I’ve had experience with:
EarPeace creates professional grade, high-fidelity hearing protection in three different styles: EarPeace HD for musicians and fans of live music (this is the one I have), EarPeace M for motorcycle riders and motorsports enthusiasts, and EarPeace S for anyone working in loud environments.
Cost: EarPeace HD plugs are €20.00 EUR
The Good: What’s great about EarPeace is they cause little to no distortion of the original sound with all frequencies. The experience is very similar to how it would sound if you weren’t wearing plugs at all, just without the damage (this is what is meant by high fidelity). The EarPeace HD plugs come with three filter sets - medium, high, and max protection - so you can adjust to your environment. I wore these plugs when I went to Shambhala, and I have to say out of all the plugs I’ve tried EarPeace was probably the most comfortable. They also come with a really convenient carrying case that can be clipped onto your keys or fanny pack.
The Cons: I will say that when the decibel level of the music reached over 100, I did find that these plugs caused more vibrations in my ear than usual.
Overall, I really love these plugs and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to invest in a solid pair of hearing protection that’s relatively inexpensive. They are also reusable, just be sure to wash them after each use. You can learn more and buy them here.
Just like EarPeace, Party Well earplugs are also professional grade, high fidelity plugs. Party Well only offers a single style of plugs - the Hi-Fi Earplugs for Charity. Like the name suggests, Party Well is awesome because 100% of their event profits fund wells in developing countries, and every product sale will fund clean water. (Hooray)! I also tried these out while at Shambhala, and as far as quality goes I would rank them in the same calibre as EarPeace. Party Well’s filters lower the Hi’s, Mid’s, and Low’s by 21 decibels, so the music comes in clearly and safely. However, due to their longer design I found that these plugs weren’t quite as comfortable as EarPeace, although they were still fairly comfortable and discrete. Their long design did play to some benefit, though. I was able to push them further into my ear, which helped reduce a lot of the extra vibrations I felt while wearing EarPeace. Party Well plugs also come with a handy carrying case that be clipped onto keys or a fanny pack. Still at a reasonable price, Party Well plugs come in at a regular price of €29.95 EUR. These plugs also earned my stamp of approval and a high recommendation. In my opinion, choosing between either Party Well or EarPeace really just comes down to preference. These are also reusable, just wash them after each use. Learn more & buy them here.
Foam Earplugs:
These are the earplugs you often see being handed out at shows, or at the hardware store. What’s great about these is a lot of festivals have these plugs readily available, and they are often either given away for free at events or sold for just a few bucks. Foam plugs offer a lot of protection because the foam expands within your ear canal, leaving very little room for sound to enter. While you can still hear the music, these aren’t high fidelity plugs so the sound quality does get distorted to some extent. (Remember, these are designed to cut out the maximum amount of sound, not just extreme pitches). The foam design does offer greater benefit in regards to safety, as they cut out more decibels than hi-fi plugs. When wearing foam plugs, it’s really important to make sure you put them in and take them out correctly. To put them in:
While it isn’t incredibly common, you do run the risk of a foam plug breaking off while still in your ear. Although, this is more common if it is inserted improperly. If this happens to you, don’t panic! Do not try to pull it out yourself (your finger may push it deeper into your ear canal). Instead, head towards the nearest medical tent. They will remove the plug with a pair of tweezers.
Foam plugs are great for a cheap, easy, safe music experience. If you’re looking for extra protection, or a cheaper route, go with a pair of foamies. These plugs are only for single use, then they must be thrown away. You can buy a pair at the local hardware store or on Amazon. Pro tip: buy in bulk and bring extra pairs for your squad! #RaveMom
Custom Molded Earplugs
This is the godzilla of hearing protection. Personally, I haven’t had experience with a pair of custom molded plugs. However, they were one of the major reasons why my boyfriend, Jake, was able to return to the music scene again, so I would definitely recommend these to anyone with sensitive ears or someone looking for the max amount of ear protection. Just as you would expect, these plugs are created by taking custom molds of your ears, resulting in a shape and design that is tailored perfectly to you. With custom molds, you can get different degrees of sound filtration depending on your individual needs. In Jake’s case, he went with the maximum amount of sound reduction (full coverage, no filter), meaning his ears are protected AF. This also means that the sound quality is distorted and very quiet, but as I mentioned you can adjust the plugs to fit your specific needs. Since these are crafted to fit your individual ear, this is the most comfortable plug option. You will need a visit a hearing care professional in order to grab a pair of these bad boys. Unlike other plugs, custom molds typically fill the entire ear as opposed to just the inner-ear canal. These plugs can get pricey, typically coming in between $100-$150 dollars. If you’re looking to invest in a really amazing pair of plugs, talk to your hearing professional about if custom molds are right for you. Custom molded plugs are reusable, just be sure to wash them after every use. While they may seem a bit extreme, custom molded plugs allowed Jake to enjoy music events again (even if at a quiet volume), so I would highly recommended speaking to your doctor if you haven’t found luck with other plugs.
There are tons of different earplug brands out there, all ranging in price and quality. Before making your purchase, I suggest doing some research to discover which brand and style is right for you. Remember, any plug is better than no plug. So, make sure you grab a pair before hitting your next event. Take care of your ears now so you can enjoy the music for many years to come.
]]>It’s no secret that there is a lingering misconception that festivals are only a means to party, and aren’t about the music, experience or culture. As a raver myself, I know this is far from the truth for majority of festival goers, myself included.
Are there people that use/abuse substances at EDM shows? Of course. If we’re being real, I think we can all agree that drug and/or alcohol abuse is present at most events, regardless of genre. So, why are ravers left with such a heavy stigmatization?
I find that when I combat this stereotype with the obvious, “you know that’s not what EDM shows are all about, right?” I’m often left with eyebrow raises and silent screams of, “yeah, right."
It seems like the people with the strongest opinion about ravers tend to be those who have never actually been to an electronic event. (But it isn’t exactly news that humans often judge what they don’t know).
I wanted to dive deeper into the topic of sober raving and look past the lens of my own personal experience. So, I decided to dig up some truth and have open and honest conversations with active festival goers.
In order to protect their identity, the names of all listed sources has been changed unless otherwise indicated.
Alan Nelson is both a festival attendee and volunteer, offering a helping hand with harm reduction crews. While it is mandatory to be sober as a volunteer, Nelson says he sticks with the non-enhancement route even while off the clock, aside from the occasional drink or two.
“My personal feeling is that I don’t really understand the need for any enhancements because I am one of those people who actually experiences a euphoric feeling from some music. It sends chills up my spine in some cases, and it makes me so happy to be in a crowd of people that enjoy the music as much as I do,” says Nelson. “I want to remember everything I see and do. Life is an experience to be lived, memories are what we keep! [However], I will never look down or ridicule anyone for their choices to enhance their experience.”
Nelson isn’t the only community member who uses the crowd’s energy to feel euphoria.
Arthur Fellock, an active member of the electronic scene, has been attending music festivals for the past six years. While the strobing lights haven’t always found him sober, Fellock says sobriety is now his preferred way to rave.
“I think sober raving should be encouraged way more than it currently is. As someone who has experienced both sides, I think the biggest fear people have is that they’re worried they won’t have as much fun sober. Personally, I found the opposite to be true,” says Fellock. “Choosing to rave sober allows me to remember and fully appreciate the sets I’m paying to see, and it lets me experience everything for what it is. That being said, if someone wants to rave under the influence I think it’s important not to judge them for it, to each their own, right? Creating a judgment-free place is what the EDM community is all about. Of course, if you are using substances it’s important to always be safe, and if you do find yourself in an unsafe situation make sure you utilize a harm reduction team. That’s the most important thing.”
For ravers like Nelson and Fellock, adrenaline and heavy bass are the only stimulants they need rushing through their veins. However, not all festival goers feel the same way.
Event attendees such as Steven Simon say that while “[attending festivals] is all about the music and the people,” the use of drugs and alcohol do contribute to their overall experience.
“These things should be tools to enhance the experience and not be the reason for it in the first place. Sober raving as a statement can be a great tool to foster more responsible rave goers, and if party favours are going to be used then be smart and be safe...A safe time can always be a good time,” says Simon.
While illicit substances -and in rare cases, alcohol- are banned at events, the most important thing for attendees to remember is to rave safely. If you do choose to use drugs or alcohol, making use of harm reduction teams, safe spaces, testing kits and water stations is critical. A safe rave = a fun rave.
The implementation of harm reduction teams, such as Ankors and Indigo in Western Canada, work to provide information, safe spaces, testing services and harm reduction practices in order to provide safe festival experiences, free of judgment. Ground Control and Conscious Crew are also amazing safety teams on the West Coast in the United States. Be sure to google if the event you’re attending has a safety crew on site.
Harm reduction teams also alleviate stress from on-site medical teams, and reduce the amount of people sent to medical tents and hospitals. You won’t get in trouble or kicked out of the event if you or a friend needs help, or even just a safe space to chill if things get out of hand. Often times, harm reduction teams even have things on site such as water, bananas, Tylenol or Pepto Bismol.
Photo provided by Indigo
“I wanted to bring a reliable, safe, professional organization to Alberta that focus[es] on these demographics because there was no current support [being] offered,” says Shelby Young (real name) the director and founder of Indigo.
Young says that being a member of the EDM community herself, she has witnessed first hand the level of risk and danger that can occur at events without proper information, education and safety measures put in place.
“We strive to deliver access to scientifically-based harm reduction strategies and services to promote health education in a safe, supportive and unbiased environment. We encourage community members to make conscious, well-informed decisions for their health and well-being...We do not encourage any consumption of drugs or condemn, but acknowledge harmful behaviors that are within the nightlife, large events and festival communities,” adds Young. “A lot of harmful situations can be avoided if you are provided with the right information about the substance, like set and setting.”
However, it is important to remember that despite efforts made by harm reduction teams, the dangers of Fentanyl and Carfentanil remain a very serious reality. Even slight traces of Fentanyl and Carfentanil can be deadly when consumed and do not show up on most toxic screen testing. As these drugs are often passed off as other substances, the safest way to protect yourself from drug-related risk is to refrain from substance use.
I think it’s clear that the truth behind rave culture runs much deeper than labels and stereotypes. Regardless of raving preference -sober or not-, the overarching consensus appears to be simple: don’t judge others for their choices, the music comes first and to always be safe. If someone outside the community really wants to know what makes up the magic behind electronic festivals, experience it for yourself. However, you choose to rave, make sure you do it with an open mind, without judgment and most importantly, do it safely.
]]>This event held an extra special place in my heart because it was the first time my boyfriend, Jake, would be returning back to the music scene. Due to an inner- ear disease, music events have become increasingly harder and harder for his ears to handle, to the point where we weren’t sure if he’d ever be able to enjoy live music again. After months of retraining therapy, doctors visits, some incredible support from the rave community and a pair of intense custom earplugs, he was finally given the go-ahead to try out the new earplugs at an event. We were nervous, to say the least. However, his custom earplugs worked wonders, and he was able to finally return to the music we both love (a moment that brought us both to tears). Needless to say, this event was very, very special to me.
Get Together 2018 was definitely one for the books, and I’m so stoked that I was able to be a part of the festival magic. Here are a few of my top event highlights:
On night one, I had the privilege of doing a Snapchat takeover for savormeditation during the event. The takeover was SUCH a fun way to get more involved with the crowd, chat with some festie lovelies and admire some killer savormeditation gear. I was able to experience every nook and cranny of the event, and I loved getting such a well-rounded taste of all the flavor the event had to offer. Everyone was thrilled to be a part of the takeover, and I was over the moon to witness such a crazy amount of love for savormeditation. If you ever see me at a future event, don’t ever hesitate to come say hi! :)
Edmonton has some of the dopest ravers out there. If there’s one thing I can say about this city, it’s that its EDM scene knows how to party and vibe in perfect harmony. The energy emitting from the crowd was intoxicating, and I drank up every last bit of it. The crowd was hyped from doors open until lights on. Set after set, everyone was throwing down, headbanging, jumping and bumping with endless amounts of electric energy. Aside from being wicked partiers, Edmonton ravers are also filled with tons of good vibes. The level of PLUR in the event center was real, and I loved it. From my experience, the crowd was filled with love, compliments and a desire to spread positive energy. I was even gifted some kandi from an amazing human who welcomed Jake and me into his rave crew with open arms (everyone from the crew was awesome, might I add). New rave friends = the best of friends.
Jake (left) myself and our new pal Derek (right).

3. The Artists
As expected, the artists at Get Together absolutely killed it! Both nights were filled with dope tracks and high energy during every set. Personally, I have to give the best set award to Alison Wonderland. Regardless of my undying love for her, she genuinely brought the house down. Hitting the stage on Night Two, Wonderland had an interesting mix of her older hits flowing with her newer tracks, which added a lot of diverse flavor to her set. (I may or may not have gone HAM when she dropped I Want U, but that can be our little secret). I was also a big fan of the visuals she used from some of her music videos, entwined with her wicked light show. More than anything, I was really impressed with her level of crowd interaction. A. Wonderland was hyping the crowd from start to finish. She even gave a shoutout of encouragement for those struggling with mental health, which was really incredible of her.
We also need to appreciate the set from the icon himself, Diplo. Diplo was an absolute killer during his performance. The crowd was raging, the beats were bumping and the energy was incredible. If you ever get a chance to catch one of his sets, I strongly recommend you don’t miss out. Diplo fully lived up to his reputation and was definitely a highlight of the event.
A few other personal favorite sets of mine were Loud Luxury, BTSM, TroyBoi and Illenium. (The feels train was in full force during Illenium. Totally epic).
4. The Harm Reduction Team
Huge shout out to Indigo Harm Reduction for being at Get Together this year! I’m a huge advocate for harm reduction and safe raving, so I was pumped to see that Get Together was onboard. Indigo is an Edmonton-based team that provides harm reduction services and strategies that promotes education and support in a safe, judgment-free environment. Props to Get Together and Indigo for making safe raving a top priority.

5. The Production
As anticipated, Blueprint and Boodang nailed this event. For starters, I was really impressed with the stage production. The lights/laser shows during each set were killer, the visuals were rad and most importantly, the sound was fantastic. In my opinion, sound can either make or break and event. Personally, I can’t fully immerse myself in the music when something is slightly off, so I was pumped with the pristine sound quality. The sound was crisp and clear, with perfectly balanced bass, so I was able to completely focus on the music. I was also pumped Jake was able to still enjoy it with his earplugs in, even at a much quieter volume (a well-balanced bass was crucial for this, so I couldn’t be happier about it). Boodang and Blueprint fully delivered on all levels and came together (no pun intended) to host an epic way to ring in the new year.
Overall, Get Together 2018 was a great experience and was one of my favorite events. I had a blast from start to finish, and I’m really stoked that I got to be a part of it. (I was also in love with my festival outfits from savormeditation, which is just the cherry on top).
If any of my fellow ravers are headed up north to Alberta next December, I highly recommend partying at Get Together. It was the perfect way to ring in the new year with a bang.

]]>Get Together is a two-day festival, held in the heart of Alberta’s capital city on Thursday, December 27, 2018 and Friday December 28, 2018. Get Together is an extra special treat for the ravers of the north (and anyone who likes a good time), because two of Western Canada’s leading forces in entertainment, Blueprint and Boodang, team up to create an exceptionally mind-blowing experience. There are a TON of reasons why I’m jazzed about this event (if you haven’t already done so, check out my blog post for everything you need to know about Get Together). However, I am definitely most excited about the killer lineup. This event has a diverse mixture of artists that cater to Edmonton’s love for bass. Here’s my list of 5 sets you won’t want to miss:
1. Alison Wonderland
Let me just start by saying, I am a huge A.Wonderland fan. I have been itching to catch one of her sets for years, so when I heard she was returning to Edmonton after 3 years, I knew this was a show I couldn’t miss. Like I mentioned in the linked article above, I think the anticipation of her long-awaited return will result in some serious energy from both herself and the crowd. The Australian-based producer dropped her latest Album, Awake (which is a banger, might I add) this past spring, and I think the mixture of her latest beats, insane love for her fans and epic stage presence will bring some serious electricity to the event.
I will be hyping myself up for her set with a classic song, and my all-time favorite of hers, “I Want U.”
2. TroyBoi
TroyBoi holds a special place in my heart, so I’m really looking forward to catching another one of his sets. I was introduced to the London-born artist at my very first rave, and his track, “After Hours,” has filled my heart with welcomed feelings of nostalgia ever since. TroyBoi is an entertainer, through and through. Known for his immense amount of energy and ability to hype the crowd, his performance is sure to be a highlight of the night for all my trap fans out there. If you and your squad are looking to get pumped TF up, hitting up TroyBoi’s set is a must. Bump his 2016 track, “And Wot?” for a little taste of what’s in store:
3. Diplo
It’s no secret that Diplo is a complete EDM powerhouse, so I’m really interested in seeing a live performance from such a diverse musical dynamo. Headlining night 1 at Get Together, Diplo is responsible for producing an insane amount of hit tracks. A few of my personal favourites are “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber and Skrillex, “Blame” with Zeds Dead and “After Hours” with TroyBoi, (mentioned above). He is also a founding member of the popular electronic groups Major Lazer, and Jack Ü with Skrillex, adding even more flavourful impact to the music scene. Saying Diplo has a diverse hand in the industry is a huge understatement. He is one of the most dynamic and influential artists in the game, so I can only imagine how that level of experience and musical diversity will shape his set. I’ve been really vibing his song “Electricity,” with Silk City, Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson:
4. Black Tiger Sex Machine
I love some super heavy beats that I can feel in the filthiest parts of my soul, so I’m stoked to catch my first BTSM set. (If I’m being honest, I’m currently jamming to them as I write this article). First of all, let’s acknowledge the fact that this trio is Canadian! (Automatic win). Second, let’s chat about their reputation for having one of the best live performances around. Filled with intense post-apocalyptic visuals, explosions of beats and sounds and a sickening amount of energy, it’s no secret why their sets tend to be packed with fans. I’ve been really feeling their song, “Broken Machines” from their 2018 album, New Worlds. Check it out:
5. Illenium
All aboard the feels train, because Illenium is headlining night 2 at Get Together and I couldn’t be more ready to vibe with my fellow ravers. If there was ever a time I knew there would be some loving energy connecting the souls in an event centre, it’s now. I really dig Illenium for that exact reason, his music reminds me of why I fell in love with rave culture in the first place. Don’t get me wrong, my first step into the EDM world was a love for the music. However, the culture behind electronic music goes so much deeper than that. It’s a radiating community filled with love, good vibes and acceptance, and Illenium’s beats remind me of that.
His song “Take You Down,” is a favorite of mine:

The Venue
Get Together is held at the Shaw Conference Centre, located in the heart of Alberta’s capital city. The Shaw is recognized as one of North America’s top five performing venues. It is commonly known for pushing the past the limits of normality and providing a truly exceptional experience for its guests. The event centre hosts a half a million guests each year. Trust me - they know a thing or two about hosting a good party.
Picture this: You and your squad walk into a beautiful glass building, fanny packs on and tickets in hand. As you make your way down the stairs to the main event hall, you can feel the vibrant energy of the ravers around you. Once your foot leaves that last step, you leave reality behind and walk into 150,000 square feet of electronic euphoria.

The Lineup
Get Together’s lineup is jam-packed with a variety of artists you don’t want to miss. The event has a dynamic lineup, catering to the city’s love for bass music with a heavy focus on trap and dubstep. Personally, I’m really looking forward to catching Alison Wonderland’s set. She hasn’t been to Edmonton since 2015, and I think that long-awaited return paired with the release of her Awake album this past spring will bring some serious energy, from both herself and the crowd.
Check out the full lineup (set times TBA):

Yup, a fan base really did all that, and the love doesn’t stop there. The Cult has been known for grand gestures of love and support.
“It was my lovely lady’s first time at any kind of EDM show, and also the night I proposed to her. She was overwhelmed to find that The Cult had been in on it for months, and people she had never met were there cheering us on. [It was] completely magical.” - Cult of REZZ member, Hannah Olson.
The community has also been known for “Cult Meetups;” festival gatherings where members meet one another, vibe and chat. If you’re planning on rocking some REZZ gear at your next festival, prepare yourself. You may end up being welcomed in with open arms. (This is me at my first meetup)!

David Noriega was at Audiotistic this past year when in the middle of REZZ’s set, a new friend noticed his gear and tapped him on the arm.
“The Cult is meeting over there,” they whispered, welcoming him to his first new-family meetup.
Cult Administrator, Angelika Morris, says she can see the love and magic that flourishes within in the group,
“In The Cult, there is a genuine sense of community amongst people who just happen to know each other through the internet, despite demographics,” says Morris. “That ranges from simple things - like giving someone a place to stay at a festival or comforting someone if their pet dies - to truly amazing instances - like individuals who have tried to commit suicide and the community bands together to reach out. Just this morning someone shared their struggle with suicide and wanting to go to REZZ Rocks because Isabelle’s music saved her [life], and in the comments, everyone was offering to help pay for her ticket and bring her out.”
The Cult welcomes all, regardless of age, race, gender, location, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc. The only requirement is a love for REZZ and good energy.
“There is this sense that no matter who you are, no matter where you come from, if you're here to support REZZ that also means you're here to support one another. [We’re] like a family.” Morris adds.

Sub-communities like The Cult of REZZ are what set apart rave culture from any other music community. The undeniable love and radiant energy that ravers create lets us be our beautiful, magical selves. It allows us to discover crowds of new family members that support our space-bound dreams, every twist, shuffle and headbang of the way. Rave culture creates communities of love and acceptance, and let’s be honest here, it feels good to feel loved and accepted.

What if I told you there’s a whole group of starry-eyed friends just waiting to send you their good vibes and positive energy? Well, fasten your fanny packs, because it’s true. You just haven’t met them yet. Every person inside those festival doors is probably feeling that same euphoric bliss you are. Everyone is ready to create memories and vibe in a judgment-free zone. This creates the perfect situation to reach out to others and connect on a completely new level. Creating new feelings of friendship and community, even if just for the night, will elevate you in ways you can’t imagine. You already know you share the same great taste in music, all that’s left to do now is share a simple compliment, ask a question or just share your experience. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.
2. Don’t stick to the same stage all night

Just because you’re a trance lover doesn’t mean there isn’t a heavy hitting, dubstep head-banger inside of you just waiting to be freed. A festival is a perfect place to explore new artists and discover great music. Experimenting with different stages and styles will give your ears a delicious, well-rounded taste of everything the festival has to offer, instead of just one layer. Who knows, your next favorite artist may just be one stage over.
3. Express yourself

One of the most beautiful elements of going to a festival is the chance to be every colorful version of yourself, free of judgment. Let your freak flag fly! Wear anything and everything you think is fun/ sexy/ expressive/ cool/ YOU. One great aspect that sets rave culture apart from any other community is our love for unique and interesting styles. Whether it’s neon lipstick, fuzzy boots, a space helmet or anything in between, rock it. Hips just tend to sway easier when they’re in a pair of glitter shorts.
4. Plan ahead

Being prepared might not sound like the most common way to rage, but nothing ruins a good vibe quicker than stress. Make sure your ID, cash and essentials are in an easy to reach, secure place such as a fanny pack. Misplacing/losing something is a huge vibe killer. Plan your ride home beforehand, and have a designated meetup spot if you and your squad get separated. If you’re at a camping festival, set up your camp during the day before hitting the stages (trying to pitch a tent in the dark is not a good time). Tying glow sticks around your tent can also be a lifesaver. It keeps other ravers from running into your tent in the dark and helps you easily find your tent at the end of the night. Being prepared lets you focus all of your energy on just having fun, maximizing your rave experience.
5. Live in the moment

Photos are fantastic. They allow us to relive some of our most cherished moments and take us right back to the happy place they came from. However, don’t forget to actually enjoy those cherished moments while they’re happening. Worry less about getting that perfect shot, and more about the feeling of freedom and positivity flowing through your body. Drink in every moment of your favorite artist’s performance, soak in the vibes radiating from your friend’s smiles and submerge your mind into the magic that is dancing through your eardrums. Capturing memories is important, but being a part of that moment is essential. So, snap a few shots of you and your friends, then put the phone in the fanny pack and just be.
