If you plan on going out on the town for the evening, first things first! Make sure to have a safe and reliable way back home! (Or wherever you’re sleeping/staying!) Plenty of ride applications or designated drivers are more than happy to assist in making sure you return home safely!
Whether you’re headed home in an Uber/Lyft or heading off to your next destination, always have someone by your side! If you tend to be more of the lone wolf type, sharing your location with a trusted person or doing check-ins throughout the night can help keep yourself secure! No, we’re not your parents, and you don’t have a curfew. Just let someone know where/when to expect you so we can keep you safe, okay!?
For any extracurricular activities you may be partaking in, make sure to pace, pace, pace! We want to make sure we all make it to midnight having a good time. So, be sure to be extra aware of your limits and don’t go pushing them! Also- keep an eye on your surroundings and drink in hand! Asking a friend to keep a hold of it while taking a bathroom break or using one of those fancy contraptions to cover your drink is also an excellent choice!

Not only do you want to be able to keep yourself safe, but we want to make sure those around us are too! Keeping that (P)eace (L)ove (U)nity (R)espect and (R)esponsibility alive, baby! Remember to inform yourself on the signs of someone acting out of the ordinary or seeming like they might need help! Remember, if you see something, say/do something! Resources on endoverdose.net are awesome for this type of info too!
True care, truth brings! Anyway- what we mean by the small things is: Making sure your phone is fully charged, placing your ID/money in a safe place like a fanny pack or something that will be on you at all times and if it’ll help you feel more protected- remembering to pack your extra self defense tools right along with you!
Whether you’re attending a show, hitting downtown or turning it up (or down) at home, we just want to keep our friends and family protected! And of course… Last but not least, have the best night and the happiest new year! Stay safe, bb’s!
]]>Melodic house. Techno. Versatile synths and basslines. This self-taught DJ/producer from San-Francisco is best known as Jackie Hollander. Prior to signing three songs over a 12-month period with her mentor Justin Jay, Hollander found herself contemplating music production in exchange for a sales position. Her story begins on “Green Street” in an apartment in San Francisco where she begins to make meaning of the influences which have shaped her into an artist with a story to share.
The “All My Friends Are Hot” producer grew with a vision to create a space of her own sound in this industry with goals to host events, make a record label, and self-release. Focused on providing the music she wishes she found earlier on the dance floor, Hollander’s discography is a nod to her childhood dream to work in community service. Her story and music altogether inspires others on a similar journey on finding their self-empowerment in uncertain times. The heartfelt visionary’s new track, “My Power” featuring Brieanna Grace is another encouraging message serving those it’s destined to find.
savormeditation had the chance to discuss with Jackie Hollander about the real-life moments behind her most personal tracks, upcoming projects, and her appearance at Goldrush Festival 2024.
iHR: Thank you so much for meeting with me and your time! Your performance was wonderful! I love the way you move on stage. What was your favorite part of performing here at Goldrush for the first time?
Jackie: I love playing to a crowd like that: where there’s a few people at first and then having the challenge of building the crowd and engaging everyone. I love it! It was fun to see the people that came for me and having the crowd grow as I was playing. It was powerful and made me so happy! It makes me feel like I’m doing my job and I’m making other people happy.
iHR: I really fell in love with your openness towards your origins and the launch of your music career. At one point, you were deciding to take a sales position at a cyber-security company to pay the bills. So many aspiring musicians, creatives, or anyone with a dream can relate! You took a huge leap of faith and set a goal to release three songs in one year which ultimately changed the course of your career.
What advice would you like to share to other women producers who find themselves in the same feelings of resistance yet passion you once experienced?
Jackie: I think, in this industry, it’s so easy to see yourself falling into a category. Since the beginning, I’ve always wanted to change people’s lives, be important to people, and make an impact. My advice to all of them is: do what is authentically you and make music that makes you feel happy.
We have one chance to tell a story and you have this position of power to share your voice to help or inspire other people. Take advantage of that. Don’t fall into trends. Don’t fall into what other people are doing: making music just to make it. Speak about who you are and put that into your music.
When I started making my sets, I would play what I thought other people would like. Now, I play what I like and I like that so much more. As a listener and someone who grew up going to raves, I feel like you can tell when someone is fully themself on stage. Be yourself and people will love you.
iHR: The track “Green Street” illuminates feelings of indecision many can relate to as well as what you have felt before the launch of your career. The lyrics: “I just feel like there’s pressure to do the right thing, to do the right job, I just don’t know what to do. I’m lost.”
Why did you name this track “Green Street”?
Jackie: I lived on this street called “Green Street” in San Francisco. I went to University of California and was living in LA. I did not feel at home or supported. It was hard for me in college, honestly. I did not fit in so, I decided to move home to San Francisco. I moved in alone into an apartment on Green Street, at the same time I dove into music and that’s when I made the song.
I wanted to call it “Green Street” because that is the year I lived alone, believed in myself, and dove into myself. I would stay up late every night watching YouTube videos and working on music. I recorded the song with my phone, made the song and named it “Green Street” because it’s the start of my story.
iHR: Since 2022, you’ve made milestones I know your younger self is thanking you for. What has been your proudest moment you are most grateful for and why?
Jackie: Touring with Gorgon City and doing the twelve shows with them! Growing up, they were my biggest musical inspiration. When I met them, they were so accepting of me and so kind. When I open for people, a lot of them are like “Nice to meet you…”. When I have openers hopefully, one day, I want to take such good care of them and be happy they’re there because they're contributing to your show.
I felt so cared for by them and they understood me. They were appreciative of the show. Every show I’ve done with them, our sounds are amazing together. It’s been the biggest dream for me just to play shows with them.
iHR: I instantly fell in love with your track “Elusive” and it makes me feel hypnotized even if I feel a little heartbroken. This song incorporates themes of longing, separation, disorientation but contrasted with inescapable melody.
What was the inspiration behind this track?
Jackie: I went to Sound Nightclub in LA with my ex who was my boyfriend at the time. I’m definitely a raver at heart! We kept losing each other throughout the night and it was when we were having a turbulent time in the relationship. We weren’t really together, we were on a break, but I still loved him–whatever.
I wrote the track about that because I kept losing him in the crowd and was like “flashing lights, you’re here with me” and I’d keep finding him. I feel like all of my songs are about a specific time in my life and are very personal. That one was about us going out together, I didn’t know what our relationship was going to turn into. At the nightclub together, f***cked up–I thought it was an elusive night! You don’t really know what happened and you don’t know what’s going to happen with the relationship. It felt like: do you love me? I don’t know!
iHR: Your track “Pass You By” contains the lyrics “What’s meant for you won’t pass you by”. Why is it important for you to add words of encouragement and positive affirmations like this in your music?
Jackie: I have struggled a lot with anxiety and depression. In the past year, I've been on medication and it’s really changed my life. I wrote that song when I broke up with the guy I was just talking about. So, I was on a plane to London and that’s where I was thinking “I’m scared to fall in love, I’m scared to be alone”. I thought: I’m scared to freefall in love because I hurt so much, but I’m also scared to end up alone.
Then, I was thinking about curing my anxiety and depression, refalling in love with life. I would always say to myself: what’s meant for you won’t pass you by. I’m super spiritual and believe everything happens for a reason. I wish when I was raving in the crowd there were songs like that I could hear.
Because, raving for me is spiritual. It makes me feel so much better and connected to life. I want my music to embody that and have for people to hear that. You could hear one lyric and think: damn, I feel heard and understood. I can’t imagine being out and you’re questioning your life, you don’t know what’s going on, but what’s meant for you won’t pass you by.
iHR: Your discography shares the story of how you’ve developed to this point in time. Your faith and determination to get to where you are now is my favorite aspect of your art. What other life experiences or moments are currently motivating you?
Jackie: Growing up, I was really free-spirited. I was traveling so much and felt so lucky. I always thought I wanted to be in community service. Now, this makes me so happy: performing, meeting people, seeing how much my music influences and makes others happy. I want it to be forever. I feel so grateful.
Every weekend, when I go home, I reflect and write everything down that I want to keep doing. I want to start my own label, throw my own parties, create a space of my sound in this industry. Inspire people.
iHR: Other than forming more of your fanbase and making meaningful festival appearances, what is next for you? Are there any future projects you’d like to talk about?
Jackie: My first solo-release is coming out in two weeks on Insomniac Records. It’s called “My Power”. I’m so excited about it! It’s about choosing your purpose and your power over love–how that hurts and it sucks. I basically broke up with my ex to make music and we all go through that: choosing yourself and not letting go of your power.
After, I want to have another release with Realm Records at some point. I also want to self-release a lot. I have four songs that are absolutely killing it; I am so excited about all of them! Spotify is supporting me so much which is amazing. Once that does well, in a year, I want to start my own label.
My whole goal for myself and what I want to get into is my parties. I want people to come and feel so good when they leave whether that be we have meditation or manifestation, or something spiritual about the event. That’s my vision and goal for it. I want it to be at sunrise or sunset and to feature all new artists. The sun is setting, it's kind of chill, it becomes dark and we go in; that’s what I see. That’ll be a year from now, and for this year, I’m continuing to build.
]]>Take a trip to the Underworld, Super Unnatural passes are on sale now!
Horror and Halloween-enthusiasts–your time has come for the most wonderful time of the year! This delicious Halloween-themed festival revolves around the supernatural with mythical creatures believed to exist but not proven by science. WestWorld becomes an underworld of demons, witches, angels, and even satanic religious figures.
Knock the dust off your cosplay accessories because this year’s lineup promises a candy-sweet treat for the eyes and ears! Day 1 features Dombresky, Hugel, and Sergik. House-heartthrobs Patrick Topping, Lilly Palmer, and Aluna continue this spooky adventure on day 2. As always, can’t forget to mention a few heavy-hitting headliners Erik Prydz and The Martinez Brothers B2B Mochakk.
Single-day, GA 2-day, and VIP passes range from $70-$320. Buy your passes now to protect yourself from the FOMO ghoul and increasing ticket prices! If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience this Halloween, table service is calling your name with the best views of the show and expedited entry starting at $1,500. All table and ticket information can be found here.
For those who can’t help but wonder: is VIP actually worth it? YES! Some veteran ravers will even warn you, once you go to VIP, you can’t ever go back to GA! Horrifying, I know, but VIP offers express entry, access to a private viewing deck, and more. The private restrooms in VIP are always enough for me, but you can decide for yourself.
Official ticket and hotel packages are available to purchase which can help you stay closer to the venue at a lower cost. However, official shuttle passes are unavailable for this event. Rideshare such as Lyft or Uber is your best and reliable option. The closest airport to WestWorld in Scottsdale is Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport which is a 30-minute ride away.
Looking for hotels in Scottsdale closest to WestWorld? Use the official hotel finder here. If you want to explore more of Arizona without staying in Scottsdale, Tempe and Phoenix have more than enough hotel options to explore!
In every party animal’s book, this is Halloweekend (Halloween-weekend) in which you could get away with wearing different costumes for this occasion! Since this festival revolves around mythical creatures believed to exist but not proven by science, you can find inspiration for your rave outfit/costume from the following:
This is a Halloween rave so wearing a costume may as well be required. Here are some of our favorites this spooky season:
Cast A Spell Bell Sleeve Bodysuit

Luckily, official afterparties grace this spiritual realm for both day 1 and 2. Music begins around 10:00pm and ends at 2am. Aluna will headline the afterparty for day 1 at Almost Famous from 10:15pm-2am. Patrick Topping will provide a blessing to the dance floor at Clubhouse at Maya on day 2 from 9pm-2am. Afterparty tickets are available for purchase now! See you there, ghouls and goblins!

The Midwest Princess aesthetic blends fun, femininity, and a dash of country flair. From sparkling accessories to comfy yet stylish outfits, here’s everything you need to know to be a Midwest Princess at your next rave or on your next trip to the Pink Pony Club!

Dress them up with a fitted top or layer them over a cute bodysuit to balance style and comfort.

Did you know the Goldrush theme expands in concept every year? This year’s festival theme was surrounded by entertainment, more specifically gambling and partying from the gold rush era. Goldrush: Wild Card was then given life with a fire-red poker theme and casino royale glamor!
New and improved stage production matched the demand of an opulent theme. LED dice art installations connected to the main stage and synced to the colors of the lasers. Elevated VIP areas included expanded areas and larger than life-sized playing cards scattered in the Platinum Lounge. The mountain at The Moonrise Mountain Stage displayed visuals as if it was an official stage; every minute detail of production went all-in at this Goldrush casino.

Goldrush, year after year, grows distinguished in its lineup curation offering a juggernaut experience worthy of a return. Making their first special B2B debut was INZO B2B Mersiv which was seen at Goldrush before any other festival! INZO wore a black bandana around his neck and a cowboy hat with purple fringe as he performed–can it get any more Goldrush than that?
On day 1 at The Paradise Prairie Stage, Timmy Trumpet performed a set special enough to hold your heart with laughter. Timmy Trumpet danced and pretended he was riding an inflatable trumpet like a car! Then, he played a real trumpet live which felt surreal if you didn’t see him exchange one for the other. To my surprise and many others, he mixed Adele’s “Someone Like You” which led to the end of his set. Before leaving the stage, he shared some blunt wisdom with the crowd, “Love is the answer and it always f***ing will be”.
A crafted lineup so special, you had to choose one artist or the other. Black Tiger Sex Machine: The Anime Show was happening at the same time as ACRAZE B2B Noizu. Stage-hopping for this first world raver problem will always be a pro-tip!

From Ray Volpe mixing Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat” to San Pacho playing drum and bass for his encore, unexpected moments unfolded with every performance. At the Moonrise Mountain Stage, OG NIXIN not only played his signature riddim but shared with the crowd new music from his unnamed side project for half of his performance. Even though his unreleased music sounded nothing like hardcore riddim, the crowd loved it.
Meanwhile at the Coyote Cove, Walker & Royce brought the heat to the dance floor as expected, but the visuals made some smile and do a double-take. Visuals began as a man and woman dancing on top of a car hood and roof, then it displayed the four penguins from Madagascar dancing perfectly to the beat.
Have there been weirder visuals? Of course, but even taking a gamble with goofy visuals is an artistic risk appreciated by many! OMNOM played “By Myself” and 15-20 minutes past his set because Mall Grab arrived late. For OMNOM fans like myself, it was a happy surprise.
Experimental but exclusive to Arizona was Sullivan King’s praise and introductory visuals during his performance. Sullivan King filmed his own special introductory visuals to commemorate he’s back in Arizona with a voiceover made exclusively just for Goldrush. “Phoenix, it’s been three years since we’ve reunited with the dubstep daddio and Phoenix knows how to party from the waste management open to ASU–sorry U of A, you got catching up to do”. With special visuals specifically dedicated for this crowd, Arizona seems to hold a special place in Sullivan King’s heart.
Sullivan King played guitar on stage then threw it to a stage production member like it was a baseball before bringing Ray Volpe on stage to dance to new music they made together. Groups of gold-bikini wearing girl gangs headbanged in unison (holding the tips of their hats) to his new unreleased track featuring NGHTMRE and Grabbitz.
Photos Courtesy of @andthemangos_ (Instagram)
As the Goldrush theme expands with each passing year, the fashion continues to develop its A-Game. Attendees dressed in no shortage of cowboy boots/hats, fringe, and bandanas per usual. Ace-X accessories for this A-Game included fringe harness belts and silver or turquoise medallion belts. Since looking like a cowboy/girl in this Sonoran sky wasn’t the only option, wearing gold or glitter made attendees look good enough to be enamored like a piece of gold.
The Weird and Wonderful Cast performers were scattered throughout the festival wearing head-to-toe denim outfits and carrying poker tables connected to their casino royale-inspired costumes.
You could be walking in the VIP lounge when a casual human-poker table offers you to play. Even though the fashion grows more experimental with each theme, the timeless cow onesie never grows old on this Southwest dance floor.
Photos Courtesy of @andthemangos_ (Instagram)
After the final performances of each night, Coyote Cove became the life line for the afterparties until 5am. It didn’t matter if you were a headbanger or a house-loving hottie because the afterparty lineup was curated for either subgenre. If you missed a performance from either of these headliners, the afterparty was a guaranteed way of catching up!
Day 1 presented Sullivan King with support from Dark Mark. On day 2, AC Slater started his performance mixing “Once in a LIfetime” by Talking Heads which felt like a nod and secret handshake to his musical influences. After, he featured new hits “Pump” featuring Chris Lorenzo, “Lights On”, and “Brain on Drugs” before FAIRYDVST ended the weekend.

]]>Make A Checklist
Make sure you know ahead of time what everyone needs to bring. Before you call the Uber or hop on the shuttle, go over your checklist to confirm that everyone has the essentials. Your list should include things like wristbands or tickets, phones, IDs and credit cards.
Always Be Prepared
Rave moms are constantly being hit up for phone chargers, gum, inhalers, etc. Have the solution to any problem in your bag! Keep fashion tape, pasties and other must-haves on hand.
Prep Your Rave Babies
If you have any festival newbies in your crew, make sure they’re prepared for what’s to come. Teach them about rave etiquette, safety and PLUR.
Have A Meeting Spot
Getting separated at a festival is inevitable. People will go to different sets or leave the group to explore. Designate a meeting place and time before the festival in case you don’t have service or someone’s phone is dead.
Track Each Other’s Phones
Unfortunately, pickpockets love to strike at festivals. Turn on Find My Friends in case someone’s phone gets stolen or lost.
rolita couture x ihr lucid dream pixie babydoll outfit
Hydrate
It is so important to stay hydrated when you are dancing for hours on end. Keep yourself and your rave fam hydrated. Carrying a hydration pack is a super easy way to always have water nearby.
Know The Schedule
One of my favorite festival hacks is setting the daily schedule as the lock screen on my phone. You don’t need to have the set times memorized but it will be so helpful to have them easily accessible. If you want to go the extra mile to keep track of your friends, write everyone’s name next to the sets they plan on attending.
Watch The Weather
If you’re going to an outdoor rave, make sure you plan for inclement weather. Bring a fan and sunglasses if it’s going to be hot. Pack a pashmina for when the sun goes down and don’t forget ponchos in case it rains.
Educate Yourself
Anyone can overdose. Whether it’s someone you know or not, if you see someone who looks at risk of overdose, help them. Tell the medics or ground control. Check out End Overdose to learn what other steps you can take to save a life. Click here to read about how savormeditation is supporting this cause.

Spread PLUR
Finally, it’s important to keep your rave fam and everyone around you happy. Help mitigate if there are any disagreements within your group. Raves are all about love and acceptance, so spread good vibes!
Good luck to all our rave moms out there, we love you!

Color Coded
A good way to start planning your outfits is by picking a color scheme. There are a lot of directions you can go with matching colors and tones. You could choose one specific color, go for anything neon or neutral, or build your own color palette. When matching colors instead of specific pieces, it’s easier to show off your unique styles. For example, if you decided to wear rainbow, you could still choose pieces in different prints and cuts. The J. Valentine Rainbow Pride Harness Top and BB Ur So Fly Halter One Piece give off totally different vibes but fit the same color scheme and will look great together in pictures!

If you want your looks to be really cohesive, dress in the same print! You can both sport the pattern all over, or one of you can wear accessories to match the other’s outfit. Popular prints like Liquid Tripp have so many options to choose from. It would be pretty easy to come up with two outfits in this print. Or, if one of you is wearing the Liquid Tripp Keyhole Halter Bodysuit, the other could wear the Liquid Tripp Bucket Hat. This is an awesome option if one of you loves to go all out dressing up and the other is more casual. A simple accessory like a bucket hat in the same print can go a long way.

All About The Vibes
One way to show off your differences while still coordinating is by choosing outfits that fit the same vibe, but aren’t necessarily super similar. Say you decide to lean in to the groovy trend, you’ll look amazing in florals, bright colors, flowy sleeves and bell bottoms! The Lost In The Sauce Outfit and the Flower Fairy Outfit don’t match persay, but they’ll still look great together while you’re roaming around the fest. You can find pieces for anyone that give off the same vibe but still allow you to express yourself however you like.

]]>For u rave babes with Scorpio in ur sun, moon, or rising, u probably know the feeling of getting deep with ur feelings all too well. Ur rave fam might call u stubborn or stuck in ur ways, but that's only because ur loyal and firm in ur beliefs. U might be a water sign, but ur the strong and independent version who is in-tune with themselves and the world around them.
Here are my top picks for Scorpio babes with this sign in their sun, moon, or rising. If u don't have this air sign in ur big 3, though, don't worry, u can find a guide for every sign here.
With Scorpio in ur sun u might feel loyal, like ur devoted to the people and the things u care about the most. U might be a hopeless romantic, but u might also feel like u may never find love in the way you imagine it. U probably find comfort in music, and u feel deeply connected to lyrics or music that lets u get into ur feelings. Here are my top picks for u, babe:

Depending on what ur sun sign is, u might have a side to u that u think no one else will ever see or understand. Scorpio is a very reflective sign. Imagine ur a scorpion, burrowing deep within the Earth to feel comfortable. U might feel things intensely, and ur love for music feels like an emotional connection u can't explain to others. Here are my top picks for u:
People might often describe u as mysterious or quiet, Scorpio rising, but u find a connection in people in ways others don't. U might be attracted to things that are dark and alluring, but ur attraction to the dark side is only a reflection of how intense ur emotions can be. Here are some picks for u babe:

Rave culture is the most astounding and beloved community to participate in, and the customs that we have today are because of that era, like trading Kandi, flow arts, and PLUR.
The 90s ravers laid down the foundation of PLUR to make sure it what this community stands behind would be well known. To show your appreciation for this beloved saying and this era of dance music check out the pieces below!
These are some of the most popular styles that ravers wore in the 90s:
90s rave fashion is well known to be bold, creative, bright and comfortable. There is no such thing as doing too little or doing too much when it comes to making your 90s rave fit. If your fit is bright, comfortable, and ready to spread positivity, you are good to go, baby! It is all about being carefree and self-expression. So, express yourself, babe!
Crop tops were a popular choice for female ravers in the 1990s. These tops were often brightly colored and featured bold graphics or patterns. Many crop tops were also made from lightweight materials, making them ideal for dancing in.
One of the biggest staples in 90s rave fashion was baggy pants. They were not just for style but for comfort. This is a part of rave fashion that just makes sense! Being out in the heat or cold weather for hours at a music festival and walking around constantly can be exhausting and uncomfortable. You definitely need to wear comfortable clothing, and these baggy pants are just the look!

Bright lights, and neon colors is what it was all about in the 90s rave fashion. Through the crowd were never-ending waves of vibrant lasers, with an abundance of bursting neon colors. Being bright was a part of being bold, showing others they were bright and beautiful. As you should see yourself to love! We all shine bright together in this community. Here are a few of my favorite neon pieces and trippy prints to put together your 90s rave fit.

One thing I think of when I think back on OG raves is faux fur clothes. From bikini tops to skirts and hats, there are tons of ways to wear faux fur to channel ur inner '90s raver.

]]>You may have heard stories or witnessed people swapping kandi around you, usually while doing some type of secret handshake, and you might be curious about what exactly is happening. If you’ve been wondering how to trade kandi at a rave, we’ve got the tips, tricks, and etiquette rules you need to know before you get started.
Most people use the term “kandi” to describe brightly colored beaded bracelets that are usually made with pony beads (those plastic beads you used to make bracelets as a kid).
Today, kandi can be used to describe beaded bracelets, necklaces, masks, and even clothing, as people have become more and more creative in the way they use their beads. Kandi is a distinctive and unique part of rave culture and is designed to be given away or traded away as a sign of PLUR culture - peace, love, unity, and respect.

It might seem a bit strange that a subculture would have its own motto, but that’s exactly the case with raves and the PLUR lifestyle. What’s ironic is that the PLUR motto actually came from a decidedly un-PLUR situation.
As the story goes, New York DJ Frankie Bones was playing at a rave in the Bronx on July 24, 1993. A fight broke out in the crowd and ended up spilling over onto Bones’ deck. He grabbed the microphone and shouted “You better start showing some peace, love, and unity or I will break your f*cking faces!”
The story of the humorous moment ended up spreading throughout the 90s rave scene like wildfire and was a testimony to the difficulties and struggles surrounding the early scene.
Ever since, PLUR culture has been synonymous with the rave scene, and today, ravers demonstrate respect and love to everyone while expressing themselves and dancing the night away in peace and unity. Kandi is symbolic of PLUR culture and symbolizes a strong connection made between two people at a rave or festival.
One of the most special parts of trading kandi actually occurs before the trade even happens while making kandi. Although some people choose to buy kandi, this is generally frowned upon in kandi etiquette , because kandi is supposed to be meaningful, special, and unique.
With that said, if you don’t have time to make kandi before your next festival and you don’t want to show up empty handed, you’ll be forgiven for buying it. Making kandi requires just a few simple supplies. To make kandi, you’ll need:
If you’re new to making kandi or arts and crafts aren’t exactly your strong suit, start by making a simple single strand bead bracelet. These are the easiest to make and are also the most commonly traded with other people. As a bonus, it’s easy to get creative, and they’re inexpensive to make.
You can personalize your bracelets using letter beads to create phrases or write out the person’s name, and you can also add charms and unique beads that reflect your interests or the interests of the person you’re making them for. Most people wear layers of kandi bracelets stacked up their arms for dramatic effect, but they can also be stitched together to form a cuff if you’re looking to get a little fancier.
Kandi can pretty much be made in any form, including 3D bracelets, necklaces, perlers, masks, and even clothing, if you’re particularly talented with your beadwork.
If you’ve never heard of perlers, they’re a unique type of necklace made of small, heat activated beads (called perler beads) that fuse together when heated. Perlers can be made to resemble certain cartoon characters, shapes, symbols, and patterns, and the only limit on what they can be is your creativity.
Check out this blog post for how to make your own 3D Kandi Cuff!
Once you’ve made your kandi, it’s time for the fun part - trading it! While it might seem as simple as walking up to the nearest person and asking to swap, there’s actually some fairly specific kandi trading etiquette that should be followed, and a specific process that usually goes down.
Kandi is traded when you make a special connection with someone, whether it be a person you met in line for the porta-potties, your BFF, or the hot guy dancing next to you all night. This creates special meaning and memories behind the kandi you trade, and those memories can stick with you for years to come.
As a general rule, kandi is always swapped after doing the PLUR handshake. Yes, rave culture has its own secret handshake, and learning it is kandi-essential! To perform the PLUR handshake, you’ll draw out the symbols of the motto with your fingers to spell out P (peace), L (love), U (unity), and R (respect).
That’s it! If you’re trading necklaces, use both hands to perform the handshake during necklace trades, but otherwise, use just one hand to swap bracelets.
rolita couture x iHR welcome to fantasy land chain outfit
Now it’s time to discuss a few kandi trading etiquette guidelines. Of course, always do the PLUR handshake when trading kandi, but besides that, you’ll want to follow the rest of these guidelines as well.
liya kitten x iHR kandi land bow outfit
When it comes to kandi trading, both arms are not created equal. Generally speaking, most kandi traders keep the kandi that they are willing to trade on their right arm and their “untradeable” kandi on their left arm.
Kandi that is untradeable might have special meaning, have been given to the person, or go with the theme of the person’s costume. While everyone is different, this is a general rule. If someone offers for you to choose a piece of kandi when you’re trading, make sure to ask if there are any pieces that are off limits, just to be careful.
Of course, you don’t have to trade kandi if you don’t want to - you can just give it away! If you see someone who is kandi-less or who looks particularly lonely or sad, giving them kandi can be a way to lift their spirits and bring them into the PLUR lifestyle. Kandi is about spreading PLUR wherever you go, so take the opportunity to give it away whenever you can.
]]>The EDM Scene has always encouraged us to express ourselves in multiple ways and we absolutely recommend doing so! Just keep in mind that comfort should be at the forefront of the fit, shoes, etc. so we can keep on keepin’ on instead of calling it an early night due to some uncomfy outfit selections that we just end up tired of dealing with!
Rest has always been an essential when it comes to festivals, but one of the best tips we’ve found is to schedule in some time for yourself afterward to take that mini vacation after the actual vacation! Who doesn’t enjoy a good Netflix N’ Chill day anyway? You’ve earned it!
We all joke about surviving off of one chicken tender for the entire show, but honestly eating a nutritious/healthy meal before the rave is going to be one of your best bets for endurance! Think green and/or protein!
alison wonderland x ihr fmu rainbow reflective harem pants outfit
Who says that PLURR is dead? Not us! It definitely doesn’t have to be! For those of us that may be welcoming or introducing newcomers to the scene, we can always remind them that Peace, Love, Unity, Respect and Responsibility are still very much a part of the community by simply leading by example!
Because the truth is.. If they’re watching, they’re probably just interested in joining along with the dance party! If you’re worried, try reminding yourself that everyone is there for the same reason: to enjoy the music and have fun! Nobody’s too old for music. Ever!
One of the oldest tips in the book, but it’s still one of the very best! Bring along the hydration pack or make sure to keep a water bottle in-hand and with however you’re choosing to celebrate, make sure you’re pacing to keep that energy reserve going!
We still want to be able to go to shows another 30+ years from now and actually hear what’s blasting from those speakers and enjoy the music to the fullest extent! So, earplugs are an absolute must! Plus, there’s so many cute ones nowadays, so why not!?
This one is pretty simple and to the point! If we’re gonna be moving across the dance floor, stretching is one of the best ways to avoid those muscle aches and help us prepare for the night(s) ahead!
It’s what we’re told with everything in life, but as we gain wisdom and years in our raving experience, it really is! The smallest things to help keep you comfortable will keep pushing you on through! Packing some chapstick, gum or even a fan to help keep yourself cool. The small things make for an even better night!
There’s no shame in the tired game! If you’re feeling like it’s time to head out or you need a small sit-down break, do it! We can still vibe while needing to chill! Plus, it gives you that extra time to really admire/take in the scenery!

]]>Whether it’s my phone, a GoPro, a digicam or a polaroid camera, I make sure to capture every moment I possibly can that leaves an imprint on my soul and that is constantly happening at festivals so how could I not?
Here are some tips + tricks to getting the perfect rave and festival photos!
]]>Here are some tips + tricks to getting the perfect rave and festival photos!
Make sure to first and foremost read up on what the festival does and does not allow. Most festivals don’t allow professional cameras but will allow smaller cameras such as EDC Orlando which allows “Non-professional flash/still cameras, handheld video devices under 6″ (Sony Action Cam, GoPro, Polaroids, etc.)”
Next, make sure you have all the batteries, cables and chargers you need to get you through the festival. A portable charger will absolutely save you if you enjoy taking lots of photos and videos throughout the night–bonus points if it’s a solar powered charger with multiple ports.
Save yourself the stress and backup your photos and videos before you head out! Make sure you have enough storage on your phone to withhold all of your photos and videos or set a system in place to offload the content from your phone to either a cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox or a hard drive!
I cannot stress this enough! LENS WIPES SAVE LIVES (ok fine they just ensure your photos will be clean and clear) and take about two seconds to take out and use. You’ll be happy to get the smudges and grease off your lens so you can look back on some decently high quality images. Sure, you could use your rave outfit to wipe your lens but if you’re wearing anything from our closet you might want to reconsider! Sequins and lenses do not mix.
Don’t want the hassle of carrying around extra electronics? Your phone is probably just as good as any other digital device you could bring. Whether you’re shooting on iPhone or Android, it all comes down to your personal preference. Make sure to back up your phone, bring a portable charger, and an external hard drive or cloud system set up to make sure you don’t run out of space in the middle of the festival.
Bring a lens wipe to make sure you get the cleanest shots and if you’re feeling experimental, check out some lens attachments, shooting in 0.5, playing with the flash and exploring any other features your phone might have before the fest! You also may want to look into a stabilizer like a tripod if you really want to get some clean video footage!
Is it 2024 or 2004? With the return of digicams and low megapixel pics, digicams are definitely the move for shooting cool photos with a vintage aesthetic. Not only are they super cute and on trend, they are also small and compact and easy to store in your fanny pack, backpack or even your pockets.
I personally think it’s nice to put your phone away, not use up so much storage, and it’s less costly to lose in case anything happens. I would much rather not lose any of my things (which is why a backpack is a must!), but I’d rather lose something a little cheaper than my phone!
Film photography is NOT DEAD. There’s something to be said about holding a camera in your hand with no LED screen – no thoughts, just vibes. A point and shoot camera is perfect for that and is exactly what it sounds like: all you need to do is load your film, point the camera and press the button to shoot. Point and shoots are the best (imo) way to get into film without having to stress about ISO, Aperture and Shutter Speed or any of the other intimidating aspects about shooting film.
You can find some pretty amazing and simple point and shoots made by some of your favorite brands like Vivitar, Minolta and Canon (to name a few) that you can find at your local camera shop, online on amazon or ebay, or you can try your luck at your local thrift store to see if you can hit a lick!
Polaroid cameras have NEVER gone out of style! They are a little bulkier than digicams, point and shoots and your phone, but getting those instant pics in your hand to keep or give away to your new rave friends is PRICELESS. The Polaroid Instax is probably your best bet as it is the least bulky – make sure to bring plenty of extra film and batteries just in case!
Last but not least, you have GoPro. If you can afford to purchase a GoPro for music festivals I would highly recommend it! Not only are they super small, they are literally built to withstand some of the most extreme conditions and music festivals are no exception. You definitely want to put your phone and other digital devices away in case it rains at the fest, but not your GoPro! Most GoPro’s come with a case to protect it from that type of weather, they’re easy to carry and even have some really fun attachments you can use to capture multiple POV’s!
We hope you enjoyed these photography tips! Make sure to tag us in your festival pics using @iheartraves and #iheartraves!
]]>Some of the biggest secrets to getting these looks to really turn out is having the right tools to do so! A little bit of pre-planning and researching what you’ll need before you get started on whichever makeup look you choose makes the rest of the journey a piece of cake.. Or pie.. Or whatever treat you’re indulging in this time of year!
Anyway! With any sort of face paint, we’d recommend going waterproof when possible! Cream palettes are super easy to blend, but be sure to keep anything else away from your facial area to avoid smudging!
Lunautics x iHR Dreamy Eyed Face Jewels
Gotta keep it in place! We don’t want to put in all this effort just to have it falling off by the end of the night! So once you’ve got your finished product, be sure to set it in place with setting spray, powder, or even applying a primer before getting started! A combo of all 3 should keep that makeup all set for the night(s) of mischief and spirits ahead!
If you’re just looking to add a dash of spook without all the difficulties and trials/errors of an intricate look, we’d suggest adding some of these pre-set stickers or jewels directly to your cart! Throw on your everyday face, add these babies and voila! All set to go!
Don’t be afraid to copy a little of this and a little of that! Using reference images to base your ghoulish look on can be beyond helpful when it seems like you’re stuck in a creative rut! Remember that it’s okay to look up inspiration photos and keep in mind that your final outcome doesn’t have to look exactly the same as the inspo pics!
Whether it be with glitter, jewels, a pair of lashes or some graphic liner - this is one of the quickest ways to jazz up any Halloween look! Contact lenses are also a fun and simple way to really amp up the drama!
You didn’t think we’d forget the scary side of our favorite holiday, did you?! If you’re looking for the darker side or trying out some gory effects/prosthetics, liquid latex and spirit gum are going to become your new best friends! They can be a bit tricky, so we’d recommend playing around with them before giving it a first-try on the night of your next event! (Also- be weary when trying out stage blood because it does tend to stain!)

Oversized shirts are taking over the rave scene, and it’s easy to see why. Think about throwing on a vintage band tee or a graphic oversized shirt with some bold prints. Pair it with your favorite accessories, like a funky bucket hat or statement chains, and you’re all set for a night of fun. The best part? You can wear them with pretty much anything—just tuck in one side, and you’re ready to hit the party!

Cargo pants are back and better than ever, and they’re a must-have for any rave outfit. With their numerous pockets, they’re perfect for keeping your essentials safe while you dance the night away. Opt for baggy styles in bright colors or classic camo to really make a statement. Not only are they practical, but they also add a streetwear edge to your ensemble. Whether you pair them with a crop top or an oversized shirt, cargo pants give your outfit that effortless, cool-girl vibe that’s perfect for any festival.
You can’t go wrong with classic t-shirts at a rave! They’re the ultimate wardrobe staple that can be styled in countless ways. Choose a tee featuring your favorite artist, a fun graphic, or even a cool slogan that reflects your personality. For a trendy twist, try knotting it at the waist or layering it under a slip dress for a laid-back look. Comfort is key, especially when you're jumping around all night, so opt for soft, breathable fabrics that let you move freely. The event will take place from October 24-27th in Live Oak, Florida. Tickets are almost sold out, so grab yours here and get ready for the best weekend of your life!
Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park is a venue unlike any other. Located on the Suwannee River, this campground lives and breathes Florida. With spooky Spanish Moss draped from the trees like mystical curtains, and big swamp energy infused into every path, there truly isn’t a more fitting venue for a Halloween-themed festival. The grounds are magical.
Enjoy the shade within the woods or cool off from the daytime heat in the river. See if you can find the treehouse! And if you need a dose of Halloween vibes, check out the bat house at dusk. If you need to buy ice or other camping goods, the General Store has you covered.
Hulaween has multiple stages and areas to explore, so come with an open mind and be prepared for adventure. Spirit Lake is the place to be at night! There, you’ll explore out-of-this-world art installations that will blow your mind.
Bring your card or cash with you when you explore because there are amazing vendors at Hula, from delicious food to heady apparel and accessories, art, and more.
Festival camping goes a little differently here than at other festivals. Rather than being placed in a camping spot by staff, you have complete free range to find your own campsite within the grounds once you drive through the gates.
Because camping is first come, first serve, many people choose to arrive early and stake out a spot for their squad. Don’t panic, though! If you’re planning to arrive on Thursday, you will still be able to find a great spot. Just have patience, as it may take a few laps of driving around the park to situate yourself.
Pro tip: I always prefer camping in the woods because you get shade in the mornings and throughout the day, which means more time spent sleeping in or taking disco naps. Getting good rest is key to an enjoyable camping fest experience! If you think you may end up in a sunny camping spot, bring a pop-up canopy for shade.
If you purchased a car pass, you can park your car next to your tent at your campsite. I highly recommend this, although there are parking options on-site for your vehicle if you choose not to buy a car pass.
You will notice golf carts zipping around the grounds during the festival. If you’re planning to drive a golf cart at the fest, contact the park to verify that it will be permitted before you arrive. You will need proper reservations and paperwork.
Some people bring bicycles, one-wheels, or motorized bikes/skateboards to the park, but they are certainly not necessary to get around. It can be super fun to take a morning bike ride through the campsites, though.
One of the coolest things about Hulaween is that, weather permitting, you can have campfires at your campsite! We have had some very chilly Hulaweens in the past, and having firewood to build a campfire has been a lifesaver. There’s nothing better than huddling around the fire with your friends or, better yet, making s’mores at camp! I recommend bringing a fire pit and firewood if the weather allows for campfires. If a burn ban is necessary due to weather or other conditions, the park will tell you not to burn anything.
Like most camping festivals, come prepared with nutritious meals and snacks, a cooler with ice, and plenty of water to keep you hydrated. Packing a first-aid kit is always a smart idea.
Pro tip: bring your favorite craft brews to Camp Reddit if you’re interested in a craft beer exchange and their infamous bacon pancakes.
We have had Hulaweens that were blazing hot and Hulaweens that were freezing cold. The best advice I have for Hula and any camping festival is to come prepared for any climate - heat, cold, rain, or dust. The best plan is to pack outfits in layers so you can adjust your look depending on the weather. During the day, you can typically expect hot Florida sunshine. But as the sun goes down, it can get anywhere from chilly to frigid.
I keep my outfits pre-planned in sealable bags to reach into my duffel and pull out a fresh outfit, already picked out and ready to go. Make sure you keep an outfit sealed to drive home in so you have fresh clothes as you make the journey home.
Here is my basic list of camping festival clothes and must-haves:
Since Hula is over Halloween weekend, many people dress up in fun costumes. This year’s theme is Suwannee Horror Disco Show, so if that theme speaks to you, dress for it! Especially for the themed String Cheese set on Saturday night.
I typically bring a few costumes but don’t forget comfortable outfits, as well. If you’re into sustainable shopping, check out your local thrift store for costumes or better yet - ask your friends if they have any costumes you can borrow.
Explore all the Halloween costume options from savormeditation here.
Always make a stop back at camp before dinner to fuel your body with some nutritious food, load up on water, and grab anything you might need for a night of fun. The walk from the stages to the campgrounds typically isn’t too far, but if you have back-to-back sets planned, it’s best to have everything you may need on your person.
Pro tip: grab a flashlight from your campsite as the day turns to night. There are tons of tree roots along the paths in the campgrounds that are prime for tripping over, so watch out.
Throw on sleeves like these over a cropped tank top if you start to get chilly but aren’t ready to change out of your daytime fit just yet.
dark arts mesh bell sleeve ultra crop top
Chaps, like these, are a great middle ground between shorts and pants - especially if you want to show off that rave booty!
Nocturnal Nature Fishnet Chaps
iHR has some great outerwear options to keep you in style, even if the weather gets chilly.
Hulaween is a whirlwind of mind-melting music and art. It’s my all-time favorite festival because the vibes are simply unparalleled. You’ll see for yourself!
Expect nothing, but stay open to anything. Keep an open mind, be prepared, practice patience, stay hydrated, and get ready for the time of your life!

]]>Many ravers get the pre-festival anxiety, especially when heading into a big event for the first time, or in a new city, or even for a festival that isn’t new. To combat these jitters, it’s so important to start your day off with some peace and meditation.
Find a quiet spot and space and close your eyes, take deep breaths, stretch a little, and even do some quick yoga. Doing this will help relax your body and start your day off in a positive mindset, before all the fun begins.
Writing down intentions and affirmations is a great way to give yourself some goals and direction on how you want to tackle the day and the festival. Even if it means jotting down notes in your notes app on your phone, taking the time to think about what you want to achieve is a great way to set your mind on track for the rest of the day and night.
Think about what you hope to gain from the festival, such as meeting new ravers, or checking out new sets and DJs. Being intentional is a great way to ease yourself into the festival, as well as giving yourself goals if you want to step outside your comfort zone.
Heading into a festival can be a lot of different feelings and senses. Take the moment to enjoy the experience in real time and take in all the different sights of the festival, the people, the stages and art installations, and the energy.
It’s hard to capture these moments on phones and videos so being present and enjoying even small memories are the best way to connect your mind with positive memories and people.
When you’re catching fire sets, put away your phone and camera and take in the music from your senses! There’s no better way to experience the festival than to live in the moment and enjoy the time with the presence of other ravers.
Many festivals put a lot of effort into getting talented artists to decorate and design a lot of the different parts of the festivals. You can find so many art installations at festivals and even spots that welcome you to relax but also to interact with.
Take some time away from the sets to experience other parts of the festivals. Connecting with art is a great way to practice mindfulness and also be reflective. You never know what you might discover beyond the music!
Being in a crowd especially in the heat can be overwhelming not only for your body, but also for your mind. Make sure to take breaks with your crew, even if it means just stepping out and sitting down for a bit.
With so many people and especially if the environment is new to you, understanding when to take breaks is super helpful for making sure that everyone is safe and comfortable; plus, wandering around from stage to stage is always fun and you’ll make memories no matter where you are at a festival.
In order to practice mindfulness, you need to make sure to fuel your body! Before heading into the festival, make sure that you’re providing your body with nutritious meals and snacks, such as fruits and protein. Make sure that you’re also hydrating throughout the festival and even before and after; electrolytes like Liquid IV and
Gatorade are the perfect option to make sure your body is getting all the hydration you need beforehand and after! Fueling your body with nutritious sources will make sure that you have the energy you need to keep yourself going all day and night. Even when inside the festival, there are plenty of food and drink options, and almost always free water refill stations, so make sure you make a stop at these places when inside the festival!
There are plenty of items that you can bring with you to help ease your mind and body. One item that I find super useful is earplugs. If you get good quality reusable artists’ earplugs, you’ll be able to block out loud noises without dampening the sounds of the music.
Earplugs are a great way to practice mindfulness and relax your senses, especially since loud music for long periods of time can be super overstimulating! A big hand fan is also super nice to have and a great way to cool off in a big crowd. Another item that is super great are sunglasses or shades; like with earplugs, sunglasses can help block out the sun or super bright lights, even at night. Festivals come with great production, but sometimes the blinding lights or strobe effects can be a lot on your eyes and mind.
Another rave essential is a pashmina: pashes are great for bundling up when it’s cold or if you’re feeling anxious. They are also super nice to have on the ground so you can lay down when you’re taking breaks.
Everyone’s rave experience is super different, from the sets that you see, to the people that you meet. It’s great to take time at the end of the day to reflect on what you’ve experienced throughout the day, either alone or with your rave fam. You can highlight some of your best memories, funny moments that you’ve experienced, new people that you met, new music that you heard, and so much more.
Was there something different that you would’ve liked to have done or seen? Reflecting on your day can allow you to make changes for the next day or next festival and being meaningful in your reflections will set your mind up for positivity and overall, help guide you to make the next festival experience even better!
